Jacobinia and Brazilian Cloak (or Brazilian Red Cloak) are not the same plant. The latter is Megaskepasma erythrochlamys.
Both are wonderful, though.

I think the Jacobinia is commonly known as Brazilian Plume or Flamingo flower. Your planter is really lovely, Elfie.

Sherri, i regret to say they are not the butterfly gingers that Dr Dawg posted. I only have one of those (struggling) so could not share.

http://www.alohatropicals.com/...

The bloom structure is similar, but the flowers are white, hence "white ginger"

Mine are up from the winter, but not blooming, too early for that.

Ann, your wildflower meadow is wonderful!

Melanie the red ones are simply red drummond phlox. I love red, my husband loves red and it seems everyone else is taken with the red ones as well. Looks like all the phlox seed I'll be ordering from now on will be red. They certainly show up well.

Thanks Molly! I'm super excited to see so many this year and it's only early May yet. It's starting to look like I have envisioned in my dreams. I sowed a LOT Blinking of seed this year and the results of that won't really show until next year.

Your wildflower meadows are just gorgeous, Ann. Way to grow! I guess all that extra rain we got in the winter and spring is sure paying off for you, huh?

Thanks Molly for the info on the ginger, that is still very pretty, looking forward to the blooms.

The wildflowers are just beautiful, I see a lot of the red phlox mixed with black eye Susan in our easements along the highways, I like how they use wild flowers now along the roadways now, lots of wild pink, purple, white in Ocala this time of year.

Thank you Elaine, Melanie & Sherri!

Elaine, the rain certainly didn't hurt.

Melanie, this is where I get my red phlox seed from. I buy in bulk & this company has the overall best prices as well as the most pure seed available and it has great germination rates.

Sherri, they do that here too & I love seeing the roadsides in glorious bloom.

It's that time of year again when the snowbirds fly north. Many of them throw their no longer wanted plants by the green trash..... I got a lovely Guzmania in bloom (with several pups) and a white Anthurium on my bike ride this morning.... Green Grin!

Free is always good! I think a lot of people don't know how to handle bromeliads and don't realize they produce those pups after the parent plant starts to die off. They just think the plant is dying. Their loss is your gain! Thumbs up

Thank you Gigi! Smiling

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! How gorgeous!!!! Years ago I got an adenium & it would almost die on me, then I would nurse it back to health & it went back & forth, back & forth like that until one day I gave it to a dear, dear friend. Understand, at that time I had no computer & was not a member of DG, ATP or anything else. This was about 25 years ago. All I knew the plant as was a "desert rose". Well my friend did fantastic with it. It still lives today on her pool patio and she adores it. I think it was meant to be. Thumbs up

Wow Ann, that desert rose must be big now. It would be interesting to see what it looks like after 25 years!!! Yes, they must be meant for each other.

Gigi, I love your desert roses! They have such interesting caudices - yes, I had to look up the plural for caudex Hilarious!

I've let my desert rose get too tall, but I don't have the heart to prune it when it's blooming. Then, when I remember, it's the end of summer, and I tell myself that I'll do it next spring Whistling
