Ill get you one,..... but you regular flowers buds have three segments, very easy to see. A poly bloom will have 4 segments.
I almost wish I didnt know that, Im the fool out there counting segments the minute I see a bed. When that poly bloom starts to give in, you can kinda close it back together and see the four segments, as compared to the three.

Thanks for the 101, I'm new to these Daylily terms...I picked up as I looked thru the thread, but this confirms my assumption of the name. Thank You!

My most startling. That day it looked like a dahlia.

PS I wrote back then it was a fusion of four blooms.
The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.

I took this with too much sunlight, but glad I did because a storm blew most of my daylilies apart this afternoon with huge gusts of wind Sad
I have had more poly blooms this year than any other (maybe because I have more daylilies now than any other year Rolling on the floor laughing )

@seedfork
Here are some pics of poly buds and seed pods:

I also found these unusual shaped pods on Peggy Jeffcoat, which is a double. Some pods look as if they have only two chambers; all the blooms were normal doubles Confused
The top pod and right one have the irregular shape; the left one and younger pods further down appear normal.

I wanted to add this seedling poly bloom I had yesterday. It is already posted on the seedling thread. I sure wish it was a regular poly bloomer all the time.

Thanks Teresa. It is one that I have been watching for about 4 years now. I wish it would poly like that all of the time. I want to register it in memory of my orange cat. It has a 20 bud count which is pretty good.
