I frequently buy discounted plants at Lowe's just for the pots! Even the black 'gallon' grower pots. They're great for dividing hosta.
They're even better for potting up caladium. For the past couple of years, I've been starting my caladium indoors in big pans. Once the weather warms up, I transfer them to the gallon pots that we then place around the yard. Sometimes, we'll sink the pots into the ground. The best part is, come fall, it's easy to lift the caladium for winter storage. I just gather the pots, dump them out and pick through the dirt to pull the bulbs. Right now, I have 7 flats of bulbs all washed off and drying. The big question is where am I going to put them for the winter. (It's twice as many as last year.)
And, I've already been informed that I
will be buying some new varieties in the spring. (Not that I have a problem with that.
