[quote="Rainbow"]This is "Red Champion." She is on a grafted tree from Taiwan. Her beauty is so ethereal that try as I might I cannot seem to capture it in photo's. Here are photo's taken a week ago of first two blooms.

Ok I have fallen for this flower. Where did you buy the grafted tree from? I just ordered Demmitts Crimson Star. I need more reds.
I tried to get Rick one but the cost was stupid to send to Canada.
How long do the blooms last? Thanks for sharing

Oops...forgot to answer your other question. When her flower buds appeared I moved her to my covered patio where she got filtered sun in the morning. She opened three more blooms...the blooms stayed pristine for days and she finished blooming within about 3 weeks as there were only a handful of blooms this first time round.

Here are a couple of pics of two NOID adeniums I purchased from Lowes- one was a rescue as they tried to drown the plant. I am amazed by the number of blooms. Picture #3 shows some type of brown scale/scab. Can anyone tell me what this is and how to remove? thanks

I use rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip, John. After I have removed all I see, I follow up with a moist paper towel to remove alcohol residue and perhaps some of the tiny scale missed. I don't know that alcohol harms any plant but I tend to be overly cautious. Whistling

A lot of nice blooms.
Wow I see a lot of potential in these. When done blooming I would prune so there is more branching. Just think of the more blooms you will get. IMHO

Ken, I applied your remedy and after removing the scale, I misted the leaves with water and gently dried. I can see a big improvement with most of the scale gone. The good thing about the pictures is that I still can see a few areas that have small amounts of scale which I will remove.

I have 21 plants, most are 2-3 years old. I had only one plant and one branch on that plant to have scale. I keep my plants in direct sunlight all day. All my plants are showing signs of growth and most have blooms.

Lucky, lucky you, John. I don't know whether I will even see a flower this summer. No sign of inflo. so far.

You might have to re-do the alcohol treatment in a week or two. You may still miss a few, particularly those that are no more than egg-size.

I know a lot of people you just the alcohol but when I was in Dallas It was like fighting a recurring war. I had to switch to a systemic insecticide. Mine just kept moving from plant to plant. Good luck, keep on it.
Pruning is the easy part. It is the waiting to get new divided growth that I pull my hair out.

Thank you, Rick. My younger son and his wife have been here 3 days and nights...will be here for 14 days on vacation. I haven't been actively posting lately due to being busy preparing for their visit. DIL took these pictures with her camera. Real nice photos compared to my cell phone photos! Hilarious!

Thank you, Carol! I got this grafted tree at the flea market here...the vendor couldn't remember her name so I'm thinking of naming her "Markette."

Here's one of my seed-grown trees. The bloom colors didn't get picked up very well by the camera. The blooms really are darker than in the photos...more of a fuscia shade. The pictures were taken near dusk so this could be another factor in the difference of hues.

Absolutely lovely plant and bloom. Really like the flower shape, they way the petals all roll back. Very nice color.
