This grafted tree is one from Rinoa also. Willeke, have you acquired any grafted trees yet?

No have not. I think it is not possible to import without any phyto certificate. So I am afraid that will make it very expensive .

The seller is the one that gets the phyto-certificate. You need to get an import permit at your end. The shipping cost is what is expensive...more so from Taiwan to your part of the globe. I had bought 10 trees for a cost of $141 US plus $33 for shipping. Shipping cost to your area will be approximately 3 times more. Terrible it is! Perhaps you could order grafted trees through the vendor where you purchased your arabicums?

That sure is expensive. The problem with that seller is that he is not from Holland. He was here on holiday with his family for a few weeks, and he got some plants with him to sell here for people in Europe. He is originally from India. I am planning to buy some Thai Soco seeds. Perhaps golden bell and golden crown.

Willeke,
You should, just for interest sake. Give Sundaram an email and ask him what it would involve getting trees (grafted or otherwise) from India or elsewhere. He has send out many trees and most of all would know what is required at your end to get Adeniums.
He was a major source for much of the information on the Adeniumsindia.com site. Majority of the photo's and information gathered was done so by him.

Worth a try. Maybe it would lead somewhere.

Thanks Rick, but it is ok. I like growing them from seed. So I do not mind. I have seen the king crown from king adenium. It is a red Thai Soco. Will that come true to parent you think?

I agree...might be worth a try. I have not ordered from India yet...only know about Taiwan.

Seeds are a different thing. I had ordered over $100 worth and the shipping was free from Taiwan.

Probably best not to hope for anything other than similarities with most, if not all Adenium seeds. Better to not go into it with expectations and if you get something close or even better. Then all is good.

Willeke,
It is difficult to choose. Not only color, but flower style.
There are many different seed sources, but if it where myself buying obesum seed right now. I would go with Adenium_ko or Rinoa (Orient Adeniums), both from Taiwan.
I state this, as many people are having very good results with seed from these vendors.
David Clulow has shown quite a few different crosses he has done using trees (blooms) of Rinoa's and Ko's with some nice results.

Was trying to find the information that I used to have on Color selection and which colors cross best with each other.
Adenium_ko has some nice photo of pod x pollin parent crosses he has done. This seed is available.

I have been concentrating on Species and Arabicum/TS seeds in the past few years and have not purchased obesum seeds to date. Acquaintances do a lot of buying from these two.

Hope this helps to narrow it down to vendors for you.
See if I can add the link for Ko
http://www.adenium.com.tw/neww...

Rinoa has a seed list. Search "Orient Adenium Seeds" and there is a website and it will take you right to her On-line Seed list.

I was not really thinking of the vendor. I have troubles deciding whether to get some Thai Soco seeds or some other arabicums, and wich ones are the most pretty. Ko sure is great, and Rinoa also, but they do not have Thai soco, and not much arabicums. I want something else than obesums now.

Maybe try getting seeds from Comsan Can on FB. There are a few others, but many have had good results from his.
There is a fella Kesornthip Nursery in Thailand whom sells seeds.

"Thousand Snow" is a double, and the inner petals opened showing pinkish brown staining of sorts. Veery interesting.

Thank you, Willeke! So nice of you to acknowledge my posts. It's about 6 PM now and our dinner is just about here. We're having Chinese peking duck and hot and sour soup. Love Chinese! Have a lovely day! Smiling
