Well looky here, I found you two in another forum I didn't even know existed! Hurray! Perfect timing, I was just commenting yesterday on how wonderful the Purslane is doing this year - I LOVE it! Lovey dubby I'd love to be able to collect seeds from this particular plant, the color is absolutely gorgeous. So...from what I'm seeing it doesn't sound like it will stay true to color if collect the seeds? Confused Sad

Not only that, I don't think anyone has even been able to find seeds. Portulaca yes, but not purslane. Thumbs down

I have found the seeds but they don't do well, Debbie. The best is to snip some off and stick it in the ground!

One winter I brought in my hot pink Rio into the sunniest window in my house. I babied it and it bloomed well into December! It never died..and when warm weather came, I set it back out and it did really well!

You can even send it without propagating if you want to. Big Grin Or would it not work? I would think put it in a wet paper towel...the stem part...

I can't seem to grow grass, but I have lots of purslane. I wonder if I put a bunch of cuttings out in the lawn, would they grow, spread and take over my dead areas???? Hilarious!

I haven't been able to hobble down to the area where I have that one particular Purslane I wanted to get a photo of but I haven't forgotten! As a matter of fact that's all I've been thinking about, not the photo but taking cuttings! Last fall I had planted an evergreen grass in the 'pocket' I left on the top of my column at the top of the driveway (the pebble address sign I posted on the Garden Art forum). Well the grass never made it through the winter and I had intended to plant something else but what? It's a "hot spot", meaning it doesn't get the daily watering that my other containers do. I was looking at the column this morning and a light bulb went off!!! Why not try Purslane there? I was reading your article Becky and this line caught my eye: Not needing much water is a bonus. It would be perfect to spill out of the pocket if it works - wish me luck! Whistling

It's a perfect place for purslane, Debbie.

I bought some from Home Depot once year that was terrible....very little blooms. Huge disappointment. I used to find the best at Target of all places but they closed down their garden shops. I hunt for good purslane and sometimes had to get it from mail order.

Here;s a pretty bloom for you to all enjoy!
