As hoarding begins, I received my very first order of daylilies today from Wild. Not thrilled but border is ready. I'll soak them in the morning and plant tomorrow afternoon. We shall see.... Can't wait to get the Park Lane order! She wrote to tell me 2 of the 8 I ordered aren't available, but she suggested substitutions or offered me a refund. I'll check out the ones she suggested!

That's me too! But I have to do it soon. I'll be interested in seeing how others do it.

They'll grow. But they sure don't look very good. Obviously they weren't dug just before they were shipped like most seller's do. Confused

@Barbalee Your Wild order looks better than my last order from Wilds did. They are small, on the bright side, they'll require less digging. Smiling

@Joy Thank You! It's nice to know, I'm not alone.

I agree They'll take longer to settle in and bloom when they come to you like that. That's why I stopped ordering from them years ago. There are many Great seller's out there that sell at good prices too. GH Wild's is really no bargain.

Well it did take me some time (years) to decide to remove some daylilies from my garden, When it got to the point that to add one meant removing one. I would select those that were not performing as well as possible here in the north. I want all the bloom possible. There are now hybridizers here in the north who have some that have instant rebloom or bloom for a long season and higher bud counts all a plus for me. I am now at the point where I only add a small number each year so I do get some new introductions from a few hyridizers instead of buying a lot, so money wise it comes out about the same.
If you want to be happy for a lifetime plant a garden!

Hi Barbalee,
My very favorite is Santa Rosa Gardens http://www.santarosagardens.co...
Their prices are some of the best you'll find, they have a great selection and the plants are wonderful. If you sign up for their email newsletter you'll get coupons to save even more. I've been ordering from them for the past few years and I'm very pleased with this company and their plants. I have 2 separate orders coming from them this spring. Hurray! Can't wait!

Oh, Also there are some co-ops where you can get plants at wholesale prices. I know of 2 really good ones, One is on Facebook, but has been around for years even before facebook. https://www.facebook.com/group... The other is on Cubits. http://cubits.org/notfortheser... I can recommend both very highly, as I've been buying plants from them off and on for years. I'm sure there's others, But these are my favorite places to get quality bulbs, perennials and shrubs at good prices. Smiling

@Taylordaylily I find it very hard to get rid of any daylilies too. I really struggle with that but I know I really need to downsize. When you have had some for 20 plus years its even more difficult. Some of the older ones are so much more hardier than the newer ones. I am not even considering purchasing any newer ones until I can let go of some.

Oh gosh. I wish I had enough of RGS for you but I don't. I have sold a couple of fans this winter and that's about all I can spare. I did see another vendor yesterday on LA selling it for a very good price, I think $8.

Geez... Those Wilds daylilies sure look sad. They remind me of the bagged plants sold at Walmart in late Winter. I buy the bulbs, but never the daylilies. I can see why they take so long to get established and bloom. They probably wouldn't survive in the heat of my garden.

I, too, have a problem getting rid of daylilies. I still keep them as I have a little more room to add a few more raised beds. Space is becoming a premium though. Most of mine are seedlings, so you would think it would be easy. It is not. Something about raising them from seeds .... I am too sentimental. Crying
