Thanks, Alice and Ursula, I'm glad you were able to listen to the Cantada. Some things are just special. Part 2 is tonight, a dramatic and depressing service designed to grab hold of your emotions. It always leaves me drained. The weather is cooperating with dark, foggy rain persisting through out the day.

Love that one, Ken. Lovey dubby I almost bought one on our trip to Apopka, but passed it up for a NOID strikingly white instead. Whistling Now I'm wishing that I had picked up both, considering how inexpensive they were! Sighing!

Sarcoglottis sceptrodes, "Green Goddess" is now pretty much open, after weeks and weeks watching those spikes grow and grow....I kept this large plant in the living room since February. This one has the most gorgeous, large leaves on a Sarcoglottis sceptrodes I have ever seen. Too bad they will eventually drop.

And a second, much smaller plant was kept in the greenhouse, where it received bright light.

Your Sarcoglotttis is deciduous, Ursula? I call my plants "The Green Dragon Orchid". Yours bloomed out sooner than mine, though I probably have 6-8 that have an inflo.

Mine are, too. That Green Goddess is really gorgeous, Ursula. What have you been feeding her to get such lovely glossy healthy leaves?

I bought this one with really shiny leaves ( added - in February) and I made sure the soil never dried out, so they would hopefully not droop on me.

Oh yes! Smiling
I forgot to mention, these "blooms" are actually fragrant. The scent is green, reminiscent of Cilantro!

I have had these plants for three years and they have never shed leaves. Occasionally and old, lower leaf will wither and be lost but that's it. Strange, huh?

Yup, pretty strange but then, maybe you don't let yours get as cold in fall/winter as Ursula or I do. I thought they were a type that has a dormant period in winter, and mine has always come back when the weather warms up in spring.

I guess you'd better hope that the people you've sold them to didn't have them go dormant and think they were dead, huh? Shrug! It would be a shame if they threw out a nice plant when it was "not dead, just resting" as Monty Python said . ..
