Hmmm.... that's a good question. Hopefully, it will bloom next fall (I just divided and repotted).

Yes, why happily Vanda free?

I seem to remember having seen a yellow cultivar of Jackfowlieara/Iwanagaara Appleblossom, it may have been Kathy/@Boojum who posted it? It wouldn't be too much of a surprise since one of the parents is Orange Nuggett. Perhaps someone repeated the cross and came up with some yellow seedlings as part of the population?

Daisy and Tara...those Vanda's are WAY too high maintenance for me..all that water, all that fertilizer, all those LONG roots that I trip over each and every time I have to drag them into the house because it gets too cold here from time to time...dragging them in and out of the shower twice a day and letting them drip dry on the wall to wall carpet. I got half of them in Apopka and those guys were about 12' from tip to tail. The ones I grew from Royal Orchids were more manageable...but they all sold and I made a small profit.
Thanks Ursula...I posted a picture on her site..maybe she'll chime in and then I'll have to decide about getting another (in bloom!) Apple Blossom.

Thanks Lindsey, I had a feeling that the "high maintenance" of them was the case. They are very "high maintenance"! I love them just the same! I think what I love most, is that they bloom profusely. Though I am a novice, I've been able to get them to bloom several times throughout the year. Most, if not all of my other orchids bloom only once a year. I love that these Vandas I have bloom every few months.

Love the fact that you were able to make a profit on them. Big Grin

I only have about 25 orchids overall, without a greenhouse. And no room for a greenhouse, so I'm trying really hard to "contain" my passion/obsession!!!!! Hilarious!

Lindsey's already spent the ill-gotten gains from selling off her Vanda children, though. Nice going, Lindsey!

I couldn't resist, had the camera out there taking pictures of the Den. ag and little Blazing Treat called out to me, not quite all the way open, but blazing already nonetheless. It's got 7 more buds coming, too.

Hi y'all! It is official. 1 day to moving! OMG there is so much to do.

The cats are caught and in the enclosure. The seller allowed us early access to the back yard and storage so we have taken three loads of "yard stuff" over there already.

Tonight we are packing the master closet and the rest of our clothes. Tomorrow the last bit of the kitchen.

So exciting! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

Carol, love your Den. polysema. I have a cute little Dendrobium smiling up at the sun today as well. This is Dendrobium lindleyi, also called Dendrobium aggregatum.

Jim,
I love your Den aggregatum/ lindleyi.
Now I am growing two plants for several years now, one is somewhat larger all around, that one came labeled Den aggregatum. My other plant is almost a miniature version of that aggregatum and came labeled as lindleyi. If you see only one of them and also in bloom, you would think they are the same, but seeing them next to each other and also in bloom, I do think they are two slightly different plants.

CORRECTION
See below, I totally goofed!!!! The name of the smaller plant is Den jenkinsii, NOT lindleyi.

Oh, good. We might get to see them side by side. I guess I've mounted one aggregatum and one lindleyi on this cork mount, then.
Thumb of 2016-03-24/dyzzypyxxy/b1a8a3
The left hand plant has a little larger leaves overall than the right one, but I just thought it was older or healthier. I got the right hand one from Krull-Smith last fall. It is tagged as Dendrobium aggregatum (Dendrobium lindleyi) - exactly like that! So I guess Den aggregatum can be a lindleyi or not? So shouldn't it be labeled Den. aggregatum 'lindleyi' ?? curse those boffins!

Interesting. Type either name into OrchidWiz and you get the exact same photo image but it will correct aggregatum to lindleyi and show it as the preferred name.

Ha! When I look at Jay Phal's site he lists numerous names for some. Very frustrating when you have to look one up.

I know longer know what anything is - I think I am getting dizzy with all these name re-arrangements. So I am for choosing the name I like most and sticking with that.

I like that attitude, Daisy. Just pick the name you like and that's the name of the plant.
