Thank you. I actually was taking a picture of the clouds you see in the distance. That was a shelf cloud with tornadoes hitting SE KS and northern Oklahoma last night. With all the high winds and freezes we've had in the past 2 weeks, I'm shocked that my daffodils and tulips actually look good. The daffodil show is this weekend, and I just might have some to enter.
This has been such a weird year. Peonies that I had written off for dead suddenly resurrected themselves after 2 years of nothing. Iris I bought last summer are now clumps! This must be what it is like to garden in a better climate.

I have an similar arbor Cindi, got it off Freecycle. It's covered in a grape on one side and a clematis on the other.

Cindi, I sympathize with your weather dilemma. We are originally from OK & still have lots of family and friends in both OK & Kansas. Best wishes at the daffodil show! Smiling

Those arbors are beautiful. I only have one and I can never decide which of the 20 vines that I grow should be displayed on it. I guess I need more arbors!!

Cindi, I noticed the beautiful sky in your photo too, gorgeous!

Suzanne, I love the grapes on the arbor- I've always found grapevines beautiful and they have great fall color.

My Rosemania order arrived a little while ago, and what great looking plants and huge root systems! I was actually kind of hoping Mary Rose wouldn't have too big a root system because I don't have much room to dig in the spot I have picked out for it. Wouldn't you know her roots are the biggest. I was able to get it situated in there without trimming any roots or damaging anything already growing there. It had been raining all morning, but the clouds thinned and the sun came out just shortly before the roses arrived, so I was able to get all 4 planted Hurray!

Hurray! yes! The clouds part so the roses have sun. Mary Rose is excellent, and what a scent. Do you have Winchester Cathedral or Redoute? I planted the whole family together.
I've been begging my husband to build a pergola for grapes and roses, and every year I buy another grape and end up planting it along the fence. I never thought of putting them on an arbor! I could do that by myself! Thanks, Sue!

My pathetic dog came in to tell me the frogs are croaking and we need to go catch them.

The grapes are nice but you have to stay on top of pruning them or the vines will grab you and anything else nearby!

I have 4 arbors and a satellite dish pergola right now and I will be needing 4 more arbors very soon. I have 4 roses that are in need of them now that they have settled in and put on some growth. I am super excited about the satellite pergola this year, Graham Thomas has finally reached the top and is half way draped over it. Hurray!

Three of the new arbors will be a rusted metal rebar from a local nursery similar to this one. (Teasing Georgia on left, Kordes 'Aloha' on right) They are not the prettiest to start with but once the roses and clematis take over, you don't even see it anymore! Last April photo.

I also have this black metal on that has a rose, Joseph's Coat, and clematis on one side and yellow Carolina Jessamine and purple clematis on the other.

Hubby promised to build a nice wooden one for the garden entry rose,

I think one similar to the first one he built for the raised veggie beds will do nicely. Here's the blog post about what it looked like when he first built it within months of moving here in 2011. http://garden.org/blogs/entry/...

I have Autumn Sunset planted on it.

OK, back out in the garden, so much to do!

Cindi, I don't have either of those. I've had my eye on Winchester Cathedral for some time, but I'm unfamiliar with Redoute and will look that one up Big Grin I'd like to keep collecting Austin roses- I'm a sucker for that old rose form and fragrance!

Suzanne, I haven't expanded your photos yet- getting my bib ready, 'cause I can tell already I'm gonna drool!

Oh, and the pond scummy pup made me chuckle- it's not an unfamiliar thing for me to see, Sophia does enjoy and dip from time to time and comes home looking like that. Thankfully she has always cleaned herself up like a cat, I assume from being raised with cats.

I think, almost by definition, terriers are terrors - in a good way, of course.

Picked up the French Lace standard today and got it potted up. I love it! The blooms are right at nose level.

Where's @Zuzu? We need an April thread.
J & P has a new rose out named April Moon. I would sure like to see a picture of it!
Or of April Love, April in Paris, April Fool's Day. There actually is a rose with that name! HMF doesn't have a photo, though. ATP doesn't either.

Neal that is beautiful! I love all the purple. The pansies are nice touch in the pot. Did you find purple pots somewhere, or did you paint those? Lovey dubby
