Copperbeach, thanks for the pic of kniphofia--which one is this? Is that a salvia in front, and if so, which one is it?

Here is a photo of our hardy (or creeping) blue plumbago as the ground cover on the south side of the sidewalk. It doesn't look anything like this now for the moles really tore it up during the winter. We have put in replacement plants and hope we can get it back the way it used to be. The color is just fantastic, what I consider "true blue". Butterflies, moths, bees and even the hummingbirds are attracted to to this plant.

I wonder if it will do well here. The moles TORE up everything here this winter too ..but went around the plumbago. Maybe the ground was too hard around those. What a mes they made around each flagstone and in the bee balm.

Rosie, according to the ATP plant data base, this plumbago is hardy to Zone 5b, so should work for you.

Sorry "Avedon" I don't know the specifics of that kniphofia but the blue you see is Veronica spicata "ROYAL CANDLES".

It is indeed a beautiful kniphofia, copperbeech, really lovely colour.
Have you thought about Percy's Pride? It's a lime green/yellow, I love it and have found it to be very hardy. We've had it for at least 15 years and it's completely reliable, both in its initial flowering and in reblooming until the frosts. The photo is of a late summer rebloom.

Thanks so much for your suggestion 'Clifton' as I love hearing recommendations. I had not heard of this variety. I will keep my eyes open this season for this one.

Yesterday I thought I had posted a picture of our new arrivals--Mango Popsicle and Red Hot Popsicle, evidently something went wrong. But, here it is, our two new plants and they look great. Papaya Popsicle will arrive next week coming from a different source, just hope it is as good as these two.

These kniphofias came from Flowers By The Sea. I have placed other orders with them and they always send really nice plants.

We just received Papaya Popsicle with our latest plant order. It is a nice plant, but not as large as the ones from Flowers By The Sea. In fact, much to our amazement, the Mango Popsicle we planted a couple of weeks ago already has a flower stalk coming up and there is color showing.

Here is Mango Popsicle blooming after only a couple of weeks in the ground. I guess I will cut the stalk when the bloom reaches the top. I think that is supposed to promote more growth, hope so.

Okay, Mango's second bloom stalk is at peak and now stalk #3 is showing. I keep checking on the other two, Papaya and Red Hot but nothing yet.
