Sorry to hear. Those are some real nice iris. My I'm Dreaming bloomed itself out. I hope it is a good grower because I would like to replace it.

i quickly looked through the nga database, but did not look anywhere else. i could use your help to locate any of the ✔ checked iris, to help me locate for purchase. i am at my limit for planting at the moment. but, will cull what i have, to add some that are on the list.

i also attended for the very first time, the san diego iris society, where (enablers all) they had an auction! of course i had to bid, and i came away with the following.....which i will post in the appropriate iris forum? i think it is " i got a box"? well, not exactly, but it was an aquisition. I have some of your 'not check-marked' iris. If you decide that you want some of those I can help you next year.

goners only because i had to leave them bye-bye. didn't die...or they may have? i heard the new owners of the house we sold, dug everything up and threw away our 'japanese style garden' & decimated the other gardens we had, including the orchard. they demolished our koi pond, dug up the japanese maples, the viburnums, tree peonies, japanese irises, and on.... won't go into the other stuff, too extensive to mention. Sighing!

"Joe Ghio by Marriott Gardens" = the Iris was hybridized by Joe Ghio (a noted Iris hybridizer) and introduced by Marriott Gardens. It's possible that Marriott Gardens was mentioned because Joe's introductions are always intro'd by another vendor (can't think of their name at the moment) and this one may have been an exception.

"Keppel by Hager" -- this one is a little trickier. Both Mr. Keppel and Mr. Hager are hybridizers. I'm guessing that Mr. Hager took (was given) seed pods by Mr. Keppel -- or perhaps young seedlings -- and Mr. Hager raised the seedlings to the point of them deciding that that one was worthy of introduction.
Thoughts become things -- choose the good ones. (www.tut.com)

There's a lot on that list I've never heard of before.

That's really sad that the new owners didn't share the same passion and vision you had for your garden.

If I ever move I don't think I would want to know what they did to my gardens. How depressing. And really - why would anyone want to dig up Japanese maples. Especially established ones. They are magnificent.

So true - really sad when people don't appreciate beauty. I hope they re-homed the koi. 'Specially sad if they cut down trees, which take so long to mature. Sad

Daphne,
It's a shame you couldn't take all of your irises with you or at least come to an arrangement with the new owners to grab some divisions in the future. I'm sure the enablers here will help you out.

thank you barbara, i'll have to evaluate what i have, first. but, Whistling Hilarious! since i am inflicted with the iris virus, you may get a t-mail from me.

thank you mary ann for the clearing the confusing notes i had in my garden diary. i think i took those exact words from the old catalogs i used to order the irises. i must have been intrigued then, to copy those phrases into my notes. no one to ask at the time.

ghio and marriott gardens were both close-by to where we used to live, along with HP, Apple, Google, and Stanford U. miss the area (& my irises☹️).

cannot look back, i thoroughly enjoyed my garden while we were there, and look forward to this new but different garden. never thought i'd be growing tropicals and succulents with my irises. it's an odd combination that's for sure. Sticking tongue out Rolling on the floor laughing

A lot of beds look good. The garden with many of last year's newbies has a patch with no fans. I think I have lost Plot Line for good ( it was barely hanging on) but am afraid many around it are now missing too. Dread going through that section.
