I would love to hear from you if you are/were a Qwest subscriber to phone and internet/e-mail. If you had Qwest, you were forcibly "migrated" to the new Century Link. They fouled up my 'migration' unbelievably badly and I'm mad. Angry

Before I hastily make a move to Cox, I'd like to know if you're a Cox subscriber. If you are, are you happy with the service/price/e-mail accounts, etc. I don't want cable, just phone and internet. We had Cox cable years ago and it was a mess so before I trade one devil for another, I'd love to hear what you think.

Hi Alma,
I don't think I've ever heard anyone rave about Qwest. I remember reading about some fraud at high levels a few years ago... I'd never do business with a company "known" to have leaders like that.

I have Cox. I have the "bundle" = Internet, phone and cable. I think for me the bundle costs $155 monthly. Up about $30 over 5 years I think. Not sure but I think they price the bundle so it makes imminent sense to opt for all 3 with Cox rather than just 2 of the 3 services and subbing one service with another provider. You'll have to look into that. Unless you don't want the expanded TV channel selection at all from any provider.

I find that I have very few interruptions in service re the cable TV. Maybe 1-2 a year. I call service and they are VERY helpful. No complaints. I think I've never had failed phone or Internet service.

In discussion w/Cox online, I found that I can get phone service (with more features) and internet for the same price I'm paying Qwest, about $71, including tax. Qwest is and has been a nightmare and online references regarding Cox indicate they have the same sorry service.

I have a question: Do you speak to a real person IN THIS COUNTRY - when you call for service? You would not believe what I went through when my phone went out about a year ago; I felt like the woman in the ad talking to "Peggy"!

In five years I've only spoken to help desk folks whose first language is American English and all of my service has been quite good.

I have no problem, for the most part, talking to India help desks. I think after talking for a decade to IT help desk in India at my former employer I've developed an "ear". I love the sound of English spoken with a Hindi or whatever other India language I may come in contact with.

Let us know if you make the switch and how it works for you. Maybe others can glean from your research!

Well, Susie, as you know, one report does not a research paper make! Rolling my eyes. My online search of Cox and Qwest reviews were uniformly negative.

Absolutely! I know you'd like to hear opinions and experience from others. Maybe someone else will share what they know.

If Cox and Qwest don't work out do you have another option or combination of options? What do you use in Cottonwood vs. Phoenix?

Alma, I've had Cox for years and years... Long time ago had Qwest and they messed me over when I lived in Tucson - long story...

I love Cox - I have phone, internet and basic cable (that I never use) and I pay about $90/month. Have had to call customer service a few times for issues - mostly people messing up the lines in the alley - and they are prompt, speak English and fix what needs fixin. They will give you credit for your outages but you have to ask. I have one tech who has been out more than once and on the first call he gave me his cell # to call with issues - lol. I really do like them...

Some of you "old timers" may remember I had qwest (it sucked) changed to Cox. I turned in 6 cable boxes to qwest. Months later a collections agency called to inform me I had been sent to collections for never turning in the boxes. I told her I had the reciept, she said I was lying and she was going to call me every day until I paid the $1600! Grumbling long story short they settled out of court for $2500 to me Hilarious! and I bought a bunch of Topiaries Hurray!

That's what I call revenge! Good for you. I shoulda sued Qwest myself after that ridiculous blunder over our phone service. Can you imagine: Your home phone is out; you call repair on your cell. No one shows. You call back; they say, "well, we called you and no one answered"! It went downhill from there, including having them tell me they went to a non-existent address. HELLO??? You have my account; you couldn't just look at it to see where I live??? IDIOTS. Still haven't decided. The MOTH thinks everything goes to hell as soon as you try to change something. He may be right, except that when you're already in the big H, what difference does it make.

So, the MOTH is saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it"? I guess he's not dealing with what you're dealing with.

If you get no service, product is inferior, you're paying for "nothing" basically... I'd say it's broke. But, if you just want a change, MOTH may be right.

However, being told the service wo/man "went to a non-existent address" would tell me that if I had not yet reached rock bottom I'd soon hit it HARD. It's pretty impossible to go to an address that doesn't exist... ya think they were lying??????? Rolling on the floor laughing

Sounds like everything has already gone downhill.

When I canceled service with Qwest they refused to come pick up their equipment, they said I had to take it to one of their locations Grumbling The location they said was closest to me was about 12 miles away. I went there and it was a empty space in a almost empty strip mall. I was a little ticked . I called them and the Rep I spoke to said "oh that location has been closed for over a year" I demanded they come out and get their equipment. If I hadn't gotten a reciept for the cable boxes I would have been screwed Angry

I'm trying to remember: Just why was AT&T broken up? Wasn't it because we needed competition and therefore lower prices and better service? What a crock! If anything, we have worse service and higher costs.

We were at my daughter's house Sat. evening. She has Cox internet, is paying for 17 MB service (may be higher, I'm not sure) and getting 1.5. What's wrong with this picture? I finally got three responses to my e-mail to Qwest/Century Link this morning. Two told me I'd soon get a response from a tech and the third was (presumably) from tech, telling me how to do what we've already done. Grumbling

Still weighing options and wishing there were another one besides the two. Oh, yeah, Susie; I think they lied through their teeth! You can't go to a non-existent address with the repair order in your hand. And, yes; I'm the one who always deals with Qwest. The MOTH remembers all his hair-pulling episodes with Cox.

I just now saw this topic, Alma. I was thinking of going to the high speed on Century Link as I am a Qwest phone customer. However after researching them on Google I found an incredible number of negative comments on them. Plus, I had someone at our bank tell me she had just transferred everything over to Century Link and they had totally messed up everything and she was planning to leave them. Thumbs down I am staying with my pokey old AOL. Hilarious!

Linda, it wasn't as though we Qwest customers had any choice. We got notices of a "forced migration" (can you believe they even called it that?!) and a link in the message to take you to the 'how-to' instructions. My link didn't work at all. Surprise! I had to have the MOTH work it out and he said the tech support were "idiots". I'm more and more inclined to switch.

Susie, I have the tin cans and the walkie-talkies; they just don't do internet. Smiling
