Yeah, had one lady walking by when I was taking pics of sprouting peonies. She had 2 little kids with her, she kept them VERY close! Bet she was telling them "don't get close to the crazy lady taking pictures of the dirt." Me--scratch, scratch, scratch (at the mulch), then "Yeah, I didn't kill that one!" and take a picture! Rinse and repeat....
Hope she keeps them far away from the blooms (unsupervised, anyway) when they emerge!

So this is what all of my fernleafs look like right now. Better than nothing but not nearly as good as the blooms I've seen here already!

Thanks Annette!
I love spring blooms the best. Especially peonies and deep purple siberian iris.

Thanks LG!
That's the plan. Inviting :o)

Thanks Liz!
Zen is what I try for.
This year chaos and mess seem to rule! I see so many weeds and grass in the beds.
Laughing! DH sprays our dandelions so I can't trust any in my yard.
Oooh! We so need pictures of the new peony bed!!

Rolling on the floor laughing !!! ''

Sally, lucky our yard is pretty level, we didn't have to do too much work on that part.

Oh Yan!
It's gorgeous! You did it right the first time.
I thought you were making an in ground pool. That's why I was asking about all the excavated dirt. Lol. There wasn't any!

Can I ask what do you do with the water at the end of the season? Where do you drain it to?

We drain the water down by the skimmer to winterized the pool, I just let it run through the lawn into the corner of the shopping center.

Things are looking better for a good bloom period but we still have a couple of nights of near freezing in the forecast.

Jerry,
Early Scout is already beautiful. I can't wait to see it in full bloom.
I can't get over how bright the reds are! Spring is going to be popping for you!

Posting a couple pics just in case I have a disaster with tonight's forecasted freeze. For one reason or another, the double reds have produced the largest blossoms I have seen. I think they are my favorite red peony.

How wonderful, Jerry!
I sure hope they make it thru the cold snap. Do you put any annuals in that bed during the summer?

I do not plant anything in the fern leaf bed. They are native to an austere environment which I try to duplicate with the bareness and sandy soil.
