Sugar passed away last night after a long day of being in pain. I accept that the vet did all he could to help her. She got rescued from being dumped as a puppy and had a life that was short but safe and full of fun and good food. Now she will join many others and play without being yelled at for over-exuberance. katie

I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

It is early morning here (7 AM) and today is stressful for my little Charlie and myself. I have to take him to the vet for dental cleaning (will be sedated). He gets so afraid and shakes and shakes, even just to have his nails buffed. I hate to take him and probably my stress is communicated to him. So I am talking to him in an upbeat voice and trying to communicate calm. He got up a bit ago and went out for potty. Then he looked for his breakfast. When that was not forthcoming, he went back to bed.

Charlie is afraid of vet due to his past health problems - losing left eye in 2014 due to infection and then lens luxation in the right eye this summer. He gets drops 6 (SIX) times a day. We are struggling, but I know my attitude affects him a great deal and I am working on that - speaking in a positive and matter of fact voice with lots of praise for sitting up and letting me put in the drops. Wish us luck today, please.

Stillwood, I'm hoping all goes well for Charlie; we had a cat that became very afraid of going to the vet after a bad experience (she had to have a tooth pulled and her jaw broke during the process - she was a very tiny-boned cat - had to have it wired together and then the wire was later removed, all of that was just too much and she was terrified of going there after that), so I understand when you say he is afraid. I wonder if it would help if you were to go to a different vet with him? Best wishes and Group hug .

Oh my, I can relate to dealing with the drops! Hunter had that lens subluxation and had to have drops 3 times a day at the last, but it was 4 drops 15 minutes apart in the morning, then 2 drops 15 minutes apart in the afternoon and evening. And medication for his liver twice a day. And had to be fed 3 times a day. He was a full time job! By the time we lost him (he was 11-1/2) I was exhausted.
