Happy New Year everyone.

I'm happy I won $50 playing poker online last night.

New years eve was very quiet here except around midnight when the dogs could hear celebrations which they didn't like. They barked about it and jumped around a bit but settled down quickly and we all slept well.

The family I met at the beach yesterday just showed up with presents from their farm: a box of fruit; a box of plants; and, a bag of very good soil. I gave them a tour and gifts from my garden, including a bucket of seaweed. Love being friends with people who are gardeners like me.

It was a nice visit. Their four young children are all very polite and showed me that they are enjoying the books I gave them.

I'm still recovering from the flu. I'm feeling much better but still have very little energy. I trust that will return. Our weather is clear and beautiful.

Katie, it sounds like your new year is off to a great start with like minded local folks and youth! You can teach them much and enrich their lives and vice versa

Happy New Year, everyone -- I hope 2017 is a safe and healthy year for us all!

We celebrated New Year's Eve by having a few drinks and visiting with friends at a local bar, then a light supper at home and lots of snacking while we watched TV, pretty much the only day of the year that we snack in the evening! Yesterday we had family here for dinner (most of which I prepared on Saturday and just had to heat up, so that was pretty easy); after they left we had time to clean up and then watched the Packers beat the Lions Hurray! .

Today I am SO happy that the holidays are over and I can order seeds and really start thinking about next summer's garden, as well as working on some other projects that are always neglected during the summer. I hope everyone has a great week Smiling

It will take the whole week to box up and put away all the Christmas stuff. I also have five boxes of tropical plants to wrap, box (today), and ship (tomorrow). Next week should be back to normal. Hurray!
