San Andreas and Spy are both entertaining. Jason Statham was hilarious in Spy!

Marianne,
I can now imagine how a quake could drop an entire city and I am so glad I don't live there!

Science fiction fans, are you watching Colony on USA?

It's probably the best sci-fi I've seen on TV in the past year or two.

Colony, hmmm, yet another to look for. I like some science fiction. Some is way over the top.

The Fifth Element and the first Matrix, more favorites.

I watched Velvet Goldmine earlier. I got my glamrock on :o)

Sally, Colony is a "mild" science fiction. It's about aliens occupying our planet, but it's mostly about how we respond to this occupation and very little about the "visitors."

jmorth - I love Sci-Fi as well. Especially the older B&W ones from the 50's and 60's. My favorite Sci-Fi movie has to be Serenity. Based on the wonderful but short lived TV series Firefly. Gene

Cool. Wasn't the first Invasion of the Body Snatchers from that era? Some of those 'atomic' movies were something else. I think I read somewhere Serenity was something of a classic, however, I've not seen it.
Probably the best movie made based on the works of H P Lovecraft (favorite author), was from back then, 'The Shuttered Room' starring Gig Young.(1967).

Colony has been pretty good with a very good cast . I do think it needs to explain more of why they are here and what they want. That might be season 2.
I liked Stargate Atlantis more then the original. Pretty much all of the Star Trek series, but never got into Star Wars. The 2nd version of Battlestar Galactica was a very good series. Lost and X-Files are probably my favorite shows ever. Love to catch any of the old movies from the 50's.

SS,
I'm not too big on science fiction altho I did like The Andromeda Strain.

Jmorth,
Avatar is cool. I tried to set it up to tape yesterday but it was only on yesterday and already half over.
Minority Report, is that with Tom Cruise? If so I like it. I've been looking for Vanilla Sky too.

Bob,
I kept searching for the first Star Wars movie. The only one I want to watch. I finally Googled why I couldn't find it. He won't release it to ever be seen again....
You had me at X, lol!
I watch the original Star Trek movies and got the grandkids interested too.

Marilynne,
Gangsters, loved all three Godfather movies. Saw the first in the theater with my cousin.
Goodfellas, great movie!

Watched several movies over the weekend thru Netflix: I liked them all!
Charlie St. Cloud - if you like something with a supernatural aspect, brotherly bonds that goes beyond.
Little Boy - if you like a story of father-son strong love and a child's unwavering faith
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon-Sword of Destiny - I always like sword fights and close combat in ancient settings.

Crouching Tiger was good. I have both Kill Bill movies taped.

I would like Charlie St Cloud I think. I love The Other!

I am rather pleased and impressed with this thread - I thought it would be all about new stuff, and I'm such an old fuddy duddy that I like the older stuff (yes, I consider Matrix getting to be older stuff - right up there with Casablanca Hilarious! ), but no - you're not pulling me kicking and screaming into the next century before I'm ready.
I like a variety of movies and tv shows but I like ones I know, and......... wow - so do most of you Green Grin!

Sometimes you just want to relax and watch something you know is going to be good. Can not tell you how many times I have watched To Kill a Mockingbird or Alien and am never disappointed.

Love watching movies on TV much better than TV series. Watched Cop Car, a Kevin Bacon suspense movie about 2 kids who steal a cop car. I got a kick out of the fun they were having driving the car in open fields. Little did they know there was a body in the trunk!

Lifetime movies always are watchable though often cheesy and predictable. Watched Stepchild and Mommy's Little Girl this weekend. Good enough to keep me awake til 2 am.

Last night I watched The Lodger. I had set the DVR but ended up watching half of it before nearly falling asleep at 2:30! Good one. I'll finish it tonight.

I watch To Kill a Mockingbird every single time it's on!

Have seen the Kill Bills numerous times.

I check TCM for movies weekly and record quite a few.
