Bob,
I have the Dark tower books too. Strange story, but I love it!
The Talisman is what I also want to re-read now.

SS,
But I could believe they would re-make it. There are always actors and actresses who need a job, lol!

Tarev,
Another movie to search for, lol!

I was watching two classic Lassie movies on tv, "The sun comes up" and "lassie come home". As a kid I remember watching the Lassie tv show but these were the true original Lassie.

I loved the Stand but think The Talismen and It were better. Didn't care for the Dark Tower series.
I received a first edition copy of The Shining for Christmas, first Stephen King I read.

Keep waiting to see when if ever the 3rd Tailsman book ever comes out every once in awhile they say they are going to start working on it . The thing about the Dark Tower is that a good amount of Kings books are some how connected to it going all the way back to Salem's Lot.
For me very close between King and H.P. Lovecraft as my favorite author.

Keith,
I'm just a little young for the original Lassie movies, but it would be neat to see them.

Ronnie,
I think Pet Cemetery was my first and the movie was just on. I watched most of it, missing a bit of the first. I forgot how adorable the litle boy was!

Jmorth,
Mine too. Johnathon Saul was a close second, then came Dean Koontz and Johnathon Kellerman and I had more favorites!

Marilynne,
ME TOO!!! I love the hilarity! Steel Magnolias, Wanda. You can't guess what comes next with them.

Ever see Zorro The Gay Blade, The Gods Must Be Crazy or Hairspray? Talk about laughing every other minute!

Koontz was often overlooked when King cornered the market though he has come into his own since.. I do remember John Saul.

Another good one (actually series) was Repairman Jack by F Paul Wilson, probably ten to fifteen or so. One of the first was The Keep (also the movie). Wilson ranks very high on my list.

I think my second on list of favorite writers (after H P Lovecraft) would be the team of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child; hero for most of their books is Special Agent Aloysius X.L. Pendergast From their collective pen the book and the movie Relic came, and about a dozen more novels (usually rather lengthy); they're still publishing.
If you've never read this team, you really should.

@billyporter Seems are reading preferences overlap quite a bit. F Paul Wilson was an MD in New York when ne began authoring, he's a few thrillers related to medical science, quite a bit of so so science fiction, but really hit his stride with Repairman Jack. That series has just enough outre, supernatual/occult leaning to keep the narrative rolling. Plus, I like the hero's name, thou I admit some degree of bias.

Robin Cook is good, similar but better known than F Paul Wilson's cutting edge medical technology thrillers.

Hello. I am kind of new on this forum. A transplant from DG. I love movies. I do not rent them, I do not have cable. I do download them though. I average about 6-10 new ones a week. Currently my collection is at about 2,800 movies. I only keep copies of the ones I'd watch twice. Let me share a funny tale from long ago where a movie helped me out. I was single, 20's, and the phone rang. Wrong number, But the female voice on the other end sounded interesting. We talked for an hour. She called back the next night. This went on for about a week. It was then that I realized that she was not my type and she was about to suggest we meet in person. I quickly changed the subject to movies. What do you like, etc. I sensed her viewing experience was limited which gave me an idea. I told her my all time favorite movie was Eraserhead. It worked! She never, ever called me back. Gene

Hilarious! on the movie Eraserhead. I've never seen it, but if it was a deterrent, then that was a good thing
