You're welcome Christine! Smiling They are also VERY loud birds. So tiny and yet such a booming voice! I love the little stinkers. They have so much personality.

That molting Cardinal is...something else. Wow! And we thought teenage acne was bad! Rolling on the floor laughing If I could molt, I'd do it like a caterpillar - all at once. Just step out of my old skin and be all fresh and new.

I actually thought it looked like a caterpillar in the beak of the one bird, but my mind can't accept that so I'm going to think it was a grasshopper or something else instead. But it definitely looks "squishy" to me so I didn't think it was a leaf.

Saw a Tufted Titmouse for the first time at my house today. Couldn't get a photo because it was hopping around the branches. Dad was with me and laughed when I said the name. I'd tell him to grow up, but it's way too late for that. Rolling my eyes.

You're welcome Charlotte. I swear the poor molting birds look like they are at deaths door. I don't know how they keep from getting sunburned when they're like that. It must feel awful!

Loving all the bird photos! Early this morning I missed the chance of a photo of what I think was a Mama Pied-billed Grebe and four or five tiny babies! It may have been a duck but it sure looked to be the size of an adult Grebe rather than a duck. I ran in to get my camera but they were nowhere to be seen by the time I got back out to the deck. Sad I'm going to be on the lookout in hopes of getting a picture!

Molting birds are so funny looking! These are old photos from six or seven years ago taken during the summer:

I just took this photo a few minutes ago (Sunday 4:10:16, 10:15AM), I have to sneak in while the mother bird is off. They have really developed since my last picture of four days ago. Feathers are getting better defined.

John, those baby Cardinals are growing fast! Looks like maybe 3 in the nest? They are so cute and I look forward to seeing the progression photos as they grow more feathers and are ready to fledge the nest!

I have some Phoebes nesting under the porch eaves that recently hatched. They're up too high for a picture but it's fun watching the progress. Both parents are feeding them more the past couple of days so they will probably be poking their heads up pretty soon. Smiling
