My first thought was also azalea, but the upright branches confused me a bit.

I put a post in the Plant ID forum, and people said they were Rhododendron. Guess they were being botanical Green Grin! .

You all beat me to it--I thought it was an azalea as well.
Maybe one of the bigger-growing ones? Like Delaware valley?
I have 2 of them--and their branches are all straight up and very woody.

Donner--in early spring--you can cut it back if you like. Ir will re-grow and bloom.

Cut back immediately after blooming. Azaleas bloom on"old" wood, and early pruning removes buds. Azaleas put out new growth after blooming anyway, so timing is perfect.
