Not good at tree IDs, but you may have a Blackjack Oak seedling, Quercus marilandica.

all of this is lilac of some kind. It needs mostly full sun to bloom, it will grow in some shade but bloom won't be strong. It will take a few years for it to bloom nice.

agree with Frillylily- I have the Hart's lilac, guess I got it in 2007 our first swap, and this year it had about a dozen small clusters of bloom, the most yet- but there is a dogwood fighting it
Plant it and they will come.

Let me just say...I started in the yard at 10:00am...took a few breaks...came it at 8:30pm.If my HOA says ONE thing about my yard...its war. Now...as for my mystery 'oak' leaf...I will dig that up tomorrow. I have to say that is one BIG leaf...much bigger then oak leaves I'm used to seeing. No oaks in the general area...guessing a bird left a present.

Sighing! Am envious of all of you able to spend the day/weekend gardening--I'm stuck here at a tournament. Maybe Tuesday would be a good day for some annual leave... nodding

Chantell, I had poison ivy long time ago climbing my now dead dogwood tree that was a birthday present. I got rid of the poison ivy by cutting all those roots covered with fuzzy stuff about 7 inches from the ground, then spraying the cut part (both the top one AND the bottom one) with Brush-Be-Gone. I do not remember the brand of the herbicide, but look at the label and make sure that poison ivy is included. Be careful in handling the poison ivy. DO NOT burn them, the smoke is also poisonous. Put them in a big paper bag and put in trash. Wash all your clothing immediately. Wash also your garden shoes/clogs, and gloves. Then use Fels Naptha Bar Soap‎ (found in the laundry part of stores) when you shower, also wash your hair with it. Fels Naptha does not have cream nor oil in it, so it strips all the oil that sticks on your skin. Bath soaps have cream, so the oil of the poison ivy does not wash away. Reason I am telling all this is a friend of mine was cleaning the poison ivy in her garden and got so badly poisoned (she burned the poison ivy and the poison went into her lungs) she landed in the hospital for a week! By the way, the dogwood tree did not die because of the Brush-Be-Gone. It is another long story.

I just checked online and found that it was Ortho brand, it has to have Triclopyr. I bought "ready to use", a small bottle, enough to kill all the poison ivy that I had. Glyphosate (Round Up) will not kill poison ivy.

Also tell them to include SOMETHING in their personal profile. I am reluctant to bother to give information to someone who won't even indicate what planet they are from. Need to show some semblance of being part of a community.

that person sounds a bit extreme. David, what's the yellow flower blanketing our roadsides right now? It also fills acres of marsh at the head of the Severn.
Plant it and they will come.

Can you tell what the flowers are like? Locally, our roadsides are adorned with drifts of Goldenrods, WIngstems, Rudbeckias, and walls of Coreopsis-like Bidens.
