After scouring all the thousand plus iris at Thelma's today I am surprised by how many of the older iris look so very very much alike. As an example: there is debate because Acoma and Spinning Wheel look so very much alike. Guess what? There is a third one that looks just like them! Now how is that for turning ID's on their ears? And all three had two tone beards and sweet scents, and all three share the same bloom time. Sighing!

And boy do a lot of them share the Chuckles coloration with minor differences. Very humbling experience.

I have several purple and white plicatas that have totally confused me and will probably remain noids. @Lestv Leslie, the Acoma you sent me did indeed match one of my noids, but not the one we thought. I knew I had another very similar plicata, and moved it to the same bed. It hadn't bloomed yet and I had forgotten about it. The Acoma you sent and that one bloomed at the same time, and both had a purple tint around the green buds and looked identical in bloom. The one we both thought was probably Acoma has no purple tint around the buds, and has less striking lines at the hafts and a slightly softer colored beard, as well as coming into bloom just as Acoma was fading. Photos coming soon Smiling Smiling
