Ursula that is so cool! I've heard they are fragrant as well. How do you grow yours? It's one my sister wants very badly and I talked her out of it at the Tamiami show this winter because it was pretty expensive and it was a tiny plant...I was under the impression that they were fussy.
That's nutty about the name... Blinking

Lindsey, this one is not difficult at all. I planted it many years ago into this tree fern ring, because that is what I had on hand. But potting them up in a net basket or similar will surely work just fine. This one gets fairly good light, but not full blast sun and I water pretty much daily. It should do fine for you. Temps are intermediate to warm under my conditions.

Here's my first Phal bloom for May. I moved all the orchids from the greenhouse that's in the sun to the one that's under the trees to keep them cooler. Of course with all the clouds and rain we've had since I moved them I can't tell if it's doing any good or not. This one looks to be another pink with yellow lip?

It's a lovely flower, Bert. Nice picotee edge on the lip with all that floof as a bonus. Your Phal is a beautiful color, too Chris. Good looking leaves too.

I have one sad new bloom today, and a couple of repeats, hope you'll bear with me, I really enjoy the progression of color on the (maybe) Yellow Birds. Plus we have Blc. Punakea with a deformed flower, and the Spathoglottis carrying right on with flower after flower through being re-potted. (phew!)

Lindsey, my spathoglottis are just getting some early morning sun, then mostly shade for the rest of the day. They've also bloomed well for me in filtered shade under my big oak trees.

What is better than a nice bloom of a digbyana x? Two blooms! The second one made it. Smiling

You know, it got it a few years ago from Silva Orchids! They have some sort of Open House around the 10. of June. I probably will drive down for that. I will take a look if they still have it, gives me a purpose! Smiling

None of my Spaths have labels except the white one that Ken sold me. They all came from Lowe's with a sticker on the pot that said "ground orchid".

That one is nicknamed "opal" since it has so many colors - it goes from yellow/red to ivory/purple in the course of the flowers' bloom period.

I do love the digbyana cross, too. That fringed lip, wow! I finally have one but it's been sitting and pouting since February when I got it from Rafael. Does not seem to be happy or sad, just sitting. Blinking Maybe I will shake it up a bit and mount it on a hunk of cork. I have one small piece left and then I need to make a trip up to Tropiflora, oh darn . .. Big Grin

I am putting together a new free-standing mount, with orchids and tillandsia. It is cypress, forked, and about 5' tall. I have it in my plumeria garden, near the house so that it will be in the shade in the afternoon. IF I ever get my computer back, I will post some pictures.
