Hmm, have not run into any Attack Turkeys myself, but I'd imagine most birds might attack if you threatened their nest or babies. I've been chased by a Canada goose up in Vancouver, but that's the extent of my experience with vicious birds. Have heard stories of people being pecked in the face by Sandhill Cranes too, and they are huge, tall birds with heavy beaks that could do a lot of damage.

Your turkeys look very content, Lindsey. Let's hope the parents can stoutly defend that brood of young ones and also keep them off the roads!

Jim, I "unfriend" those which are not conducive to normal blood pressure! Or at least I "unfollow" them.
I mainly connect on Fb with family and similar minded friends, right? Smiling

The only problem I have had with the sandhills is they can sneak up behind me when I am on me knees pulling weeds in the garden and scare the heck out of me. That has happened more than once. They also poked holes in my vinyl boat cover costing me $120 to replace it. All in all, I have a peaceful relationship with the birds.

As for Facebook, where would I find the time? I can hardly keep up with all the posts here on ATP.

I haven't seen any of those green spiders here for two years now. For a couple of years before that, they seemed to be in every plant. Very disconcerting when you're dead heading.

In my opinion, spiders, though indiscriminate capturers/eaters, are a good thing to have. As far as I know, they don't eat my plants. I don't want to have brown recluse or black widows, though I know they are around.

I feel the same, Ken. These build their nest in the plants, and Defend them by taking an aggressive stance. Startling when they rear up and wave the front legs at you. Hilarious!

We seem to have a lot of spiders around here. I am not into pesticides, other than to control fire-ants and snales/slugs.

I think our draught has discouraged bugs. I haven't had a snail in two years. I haven't even used BT on my tomatoes this year...just hand picked a couple of small caterpillars and put them in the oriole feeder. The birds are hungry for protein , and have been keeping the bugs under control...so far. This last heat wave did bring out the ants thought, and they're coming in the house to get cool. I'm going to have to start doing control there.

Exactly the same thing going on here, Carol. Just started fighting the ants in the house last week when we hit the triple digits.

I looked over at the agapanthus and saw movement, then snapped these photos. Looks like a Giant Swallowtail to me, and a big one at that.

We have had a plethora of Black Widow spiders in the beds. The have been undisturbed for years so a perfect haven for lots of spiders.

Wow..Melissa...I've never heard of an albino raccoon ...black widows , yes! When I worked at Lowe's and we had to redo the garden center...I always dreaded it , as the black widows loved to nest inside the cinderblock that supported the wire grid shelves...and you had to be extra vigilant !
