Hi Ted...I really like the VFT and the pitcher plants. The lady who got me started in orchids she and her daughter built a bog. She had a lot of different pitcher plants and VFT in it.

Patty...nice pictures of those wood peckers...I have a pair that comes to my feeders, but can not find where they are nesting. They like to come and eat my blk. sunflower seeds and I buy them the wood pecker suet mix, which they love!

Ursula....That is a great looking pond. I never knew that about the turtles either. I live here in the south where ppl. eat turtle...not me.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Not often but occasionally I see Loggerheads when kayaking and they are so enormous when you are up close and personal. Dolphins are a pretty common sight and lately small sharks in the flats. That is disconcerting.

Jim...I hear that all the time. I want eat it. But I do like frog legs.

Alice...I wonder it those little sharks are baby bull sharks. The bull sharks will swim up into the canals and bred and have their babies there. They say that the bull shark is one of the sharks that will attack humans. Pls. be care in that kayak.

Here is one of the Rabbits I talk to when I wish to enter the cage. He sits right in front of the door!
Right now I have two Bunnies which have taken up permanent residence in the backyard and I also spotted the other day a tiny one. I am just glad I got that cage!

Love those bunnies, Ursula! This is the critter in my backyard today - Florida Spiny Softshell turtle. She apparently had laid her eggs and was finishing up her nest when I saw her. Neat to see, but not quite as cuddly as a bunny Big Grin

THat is one neat turtle! As for the bunnies, you can have mine if you want them, but beware, they are very hungry bunnies. They are devouring everything within their height limits.

Alice, I am very careful not to place anything within their reach. My herbs are all in pots on the banister at my kitchen door.

So nice to have them handy like that. Potted herbs get so overgrown so quickly in this climate. Tell me about the Persacaria, is that edible?

Thanks, Alice, I get bunnies too Hilarious! There used to be tons of them around, but a bobcat came through last year and well, haven't seen a bunny in quite awhile. I'm happy to see them coming back, although I might be singing a different tune by the end of the summer!

Ursula, that was a really big turtle. I read where the females can get up to 23 inches long, but this one was probably 15-18". They have a mean disposition so I didn't get too close Whistling

Persacaria? Not sure which one it is?

Sounds like a good size Turtle!
Around here or in Pennsy, we see Eastern Painted Turtles and so called Snappers. Around those you are supposed to be careful too. The Eastern Painted ones can be touched.

Never knew you could eat it! Persicaria odorata is Vietnamese Coriander. Does yours stay in bounds? That stuff is a real thug here.

It is not a problem. I have it always in a pot, never in the ground.
I made Pho last week and this was one of the garnishes. It also goes well with certain stir fries, some Curries and Ramen soups.

In the meanwhile - a Squirrel has found a way to get under the netting which protects my Currants! That idiot nibbles off the green fruit and dumps them next to the plants. Grrrrrr.
The trap needs to be set!

Squirrels are so wasteful! I have one that is already raiding my mango tree, dropping a fruit to the ground then nibbling a little bit and leaving the rest to rot on the ground because they're still weeks away from being ripe! Drives me bonkers.

I did get a couple of handfuls of blueberries this year before they and the birds discovered them. Rolling my eyes.

We didn't get a single Cherry this year, but the unripe Cherries still with stems attached, rained into my Orchid cage. Squirrels are just miserable brats.

Trap is set! Smiling Hopefully his golf game is up to par, since he will have a great chance to play it in its new environment.
