Jeff - Jill is correct in that Darcy should pump when you're bottle feeding the baby. This will alleviate her getting engorged or other challenges that would not be comfortable at all for her. As you've probably been told no less than 1 million times breast-feeding is nothing more than supply and demand and it's important for her to either be nursing or pumping at least initially so that that supply does not become an added issue. I'll never forget sitting there crying rocking back-and-forth due to nursing challenges with my first (a preemie that didn't want to wake to eat and then would take up to an hour) and saying 18 years…18 years I don't know how I'm going to do this. My ex-husband offered some rational words of wisdom at that point. 'I Don't think she's going to be nursing till she's 18… At least I hope not.' I wanted to throw something at him at the time, however now I have to admit it does give me the giggles. Rolling on the floor laughing
“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...

Yeah I can't believe it's been 4 weeks already. My grandfather's funeral was yesterday, he passed on May 21 and Darcy's uncle passed on May 9th (I think). Crazy how a new baby can sometimes be surrounded by the loss of someone. Anyway, it got me thinking, when I saw all the old pics from days past, of how fast time goes and you wonder where the days went. Seeing pics of my grandfather when he was in his late 20's and my grandma was in her early 30's. It's like the years past fast but the days pass slow. So when I got home and held Addie, part of me didn't want her to get any older and just stay like she is now.

I'll have to post a few pics later. I'm on lunch now and my phone doesn't have any network access because I'm in a block building with 0 reception.

And you just keep on holding her....because it's absolutely true. As my 27 year old was helping me do some major spring cleaning and I came across a stock pile of pics...all my four when they were babies/toddlers.... Crying

I read just today: 940 Saturdays between birth and 18th birthday. And 260 of them gone by age 5. Poof.

Yikes! We're cuddling up together with a book when Joyanna walks in!

Song for a Fifth Child

by Ruth Hulburt Hamilton

Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing and butter the bread,
Sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.

Oh, I’ve grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
(Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue?
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
For children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.
We're all learners, doers, teachers.

Just my opinion here, but Donner might appreciate you (@Gitagal) removing the link as it has her address and comments from others about when they will be away from home.
