This will be my l0th year having Galaxy Explosion. It is a super plant. Makes a nice clump and is fertile both ways. Flowers are on the smaller size but still nice. The last 2 summers mine has rebloomed. It does well on hot days and scapes have never leaned for me, even though I get a lot of wind. Sets tons of pods and very good viable seed. It blooms for a long time for me. I also have one of its children Brushed By Bluebirds and that one is a super plant too.

I have had this plant for at least 12 years! I won it at a drawing at a KY Roundup years and years ago. I don't think there's any more I can add that Cindy hasn't mentioned, though I haven't had any reblooming on mine.

This will be the third year here for 'Galaxy Explosion'. It has been an easy to grow plant with reliable bloom and considerable increase. I've had rebloom both years and last year it did some bud building as well. The color of the blooms can be a bit variable depending on how hot and sunny the conditions are. It has faded out some when the heat is high and there is lots of sun, so rebloom hasn't been as attractive as the earlier flush of bloom. My heat and sun in 'almost west Texas' is more harsh than some areas and 'GE' tolerates a lot of it before it begins to fade. As stated, it was readily pod and pollen fertile. It's a good plant with a different look, but the blooms are relatively small, so if you have a strong preference for large blooms it might not be the best choice. Note that mine is growing in a large container.

I just acquired Galaxy Explosion, so no blooms yet. One reason I wanted it was to test the theory that this daylily is rust proof. Anybody want to add to that--If you have it up north, I would understand why you have no rust, but how about down south in the "rust belt"?

I don't get rust very often, only when I purchase new plants from the south and haven't done that in awhile. No rust ever on GE.

Galaxy Explosion is very hardy in zone 6b South Central Kentucky. It is a small flower but blooms like crazy and increases very quickly. It is an excellent plant, I recommend it if you like spider daylilies.

I acquired 4 fans of Galaxy Explosion from Susan (stilldew) the end of August 2015. It was transplanted from a pot into a new raised bed on October 4, 2015. It settled in quickly, has shown no rust, and in April it produced 3 scapes of which the first bloom appeared in May. I have also noticed that it has produced an additional fan to make a nice small clump. Two things I noted about this cultivar .... the blooms are smaller than I thought they would be (5") and the color of the bloom is hard to capture in photos. The scapes on mine this year are only 28", but I would imagine that once the clump really starts growing that the scape height will be closer to the registered 40".

Here are two photos to show how different the color of the blooms can vary when trying to photograph. Sometimes they look more orange and other times they look more red.:

Well, it gives me hope if Becky has never had rust in her climate. Right now, rust is in our gardens, nor rampant yet, but with all the rain and mild temps I can only wonder what will be happening in a few days. Galaxy Explosion is planted right in there with all our other daylilies, and rust is on a few that are not far away. We will not spray this plant, want to see what happens in the future. I love the color of this one and I know it is not a large flower, but that's okay. It sounds like it is an excellent plant, and I hope we get blooms this year.
