Hello!
Just wanted to say that leaves are doing nothing. They are still looking good but nothing is happening.

The cuttings I made with florist roses are still good, they have some live gem that seems to be growing and I don't know if it's a good sign or not. They are still under the cut plastic bottle to keep humidity, even if it's raining a lot in these days.

To the next update!

Oh I'm so silly, I hadn't noticed where you reside! The land owners of the farm I live on are an elderly couple, and she's originally from Germany. When she's adding numbers and counting to herself, under her breath, she does so in German. I mentioned that to her and she said she was completely unaware she was doing it. She's been living in an English speaking country for many years, I've meant to ask her if she finds herself thinking in German as often as English.

I've been counting in English for more than 60 years, but at least half of my dreams are still in Russian.

Hilarious! Hilarious! I can't remember my dreams, sometimes I wonder if I dream or not, so don't know which language I use Hilarious!

Sadly I don't have any chance to speak english, I only write and read and usually I think I do good enough. But speaking it's a different story, it's difficult.

But... any idea for my rose cuttings? I do I know if they are still alive? Is teh cut bottle upon them a good idea? Thank You!

Zuzu, that is fascinating! I had never thought of dreams, I'll have to ask Jutta about that.

Sabrina, the buds swelling is a promising sign. I think I would keep a humidity dome over them till leaves appear. That is if they aren't getting too hot under the dome.

Here's a picture I just took of the cuttings. I heard that cuttings can continue to live for a while thanks to the lymph they have, then eventually die. Is it true? All three have new growth. The picture is not perfect I couldn't focus well. You see some green thing here and there.
Thanks for looking!

Hurray! Hurray! I'm so nervous! I hope everything will be fine! It seems so strange to me that three out of three are growing... and they are from florist roses too!!

The leaves instead are doing nothing. Still alive and green (better than alive and kicking Hilarious! ) but no signs of new roots. Maybe it's a legend with no real base.

experiment ended. The leaves rotted. I guess it can't be made. After all I found just one article about this, so it should mean something.

My cuttings are going well for now, can anyone please give me an advice? Here's the thread I opened on purpose: The thread "First try at propagating cuttings" in Roses forum
Thank You!

I believe the problem with propagating roses with leaves is the absence of meristem tissue, growth cells that are capable of transitioning to another form of growth (like root growth from a cutting). Many plants lack meristem cells in the leaves, but some, like African violets and begonias do and are capable of reproducing through leaf cuttings.

Uhm I'm totally ignorant but it makes sense. I always find begonia as an example for leaf cuttings!

I'd forgotten the term meristem, and surprisingly recalled it from 30 years ago in college- Hilarious! Been following this thread and trying to recall.....better late than never Rolling on the floor laughing

I'd forgotten, too, Neal. I am glad someone remembered ... I tip my hat to you.
