I love that mango but even more so that red cordyline with green and red older leaves! Wow, any name on it?

My thoughts lean to 'Van Buren'. Let the new growth age to confirm final coloration as they will change.

Aaah,ok. At the moment the oldest leaves are green with pink stain glass effect in the middle, the very old ones are black with pinkish stain glass affect in the middle and on some in full sun the whole leaf is pinkish.

I have Croton envy too. When we lived in a tropical climate I had a lot of them. Now I have only one in my Greenhouse. I'm thinking I should find some new ones to use as houseplants with grow lighting.

I have had a Croton growing as a houseplant since early spring (no grow lighting). Do they usually need more than window light through the winter when grown as houseplants

I've never had them as houseplants, Carol, but they need a lot of light to color up well. I'm thinking they wouldn't be as colorful without some supplemental lighting. I guess it would mostly depend on the type of light you get from the windows in Winter.

I find they need a lot of humidity indoors. We don't have unusually col weather often but when we do I have to bring my crotons inside so I put several small jars or glasses of water on the soil surface and I also mist the plants every day or so.

Yes, they definitely need humidity. A water tray under them might work, similar to what they use for orchids.

I tend many Crotons in office spaces in NYC where humidity is extremely low in winter. They do fine as long as the soil is kept moist and they are on a sunny windowsill. They are spider mite prone when the air is dry, but otherwise quite hardy indoors, even in low humidity. Worth a try as long as you pay close attention to keeping the soil moist and treat any spider mites promptly.

That's good to know that we don't have to worry so much about humidity on the Crotons. Thank you.

My Croton had a rough start 3-4 yrs ago
I finally found a spot it liked. Now it gets morning sun and a dash of late afternoon sun. I think I will reward myself with another!

Nice Croton Cheryl. Smiling I brought one in to see if I can keep it alive this winter. Last year my croton dried up from lack of water Sad

Here is my only one at the moment. It is "Petra". It hasn't grown much since I bought it nearly a year ago, but it's kept nice color.
