November is great this time compared to last year. Decent temps in the days and low humidity.

Gabe - we are suppose to get a hard freeze Saturday night into Sunday. Make sure you cover your babies. It warms up again then after that.

'Inner Space' bloomed yesterday to my delight. It has a slight floral fragrance(makes my nose run a little, thank goodness it's faint then 😄).

I like Inner Space. I don't think we have gotten any Fall rebloom but we have gotten some repeat bloom.

It's fairly reliable in rebloom, here.

I agree Mika, what a pretty little one. Thanks for the additional information Arlyn. 'Replicator' decided to open today. It is so wonderful to see and sniff an Iris for the first time. This one has a slight fragrance of baby powder. Edited to say this is actually 'All that magic', thank you Bonnie!

Repeat bloom is what I have heard the second bloom of the spring is called. It blooms and then a month or two later it blooms again.

Niki, check the name tag again on your little iris. I don't think it is Replicator. Wrong beard color and the spot on the falls is not nearly pronounced enough. Then again, maybe I should check mine out. LOL

Barbalee -- a true rebloomer blooms in the spring with all the other Irises -- then goes dormant during the heat of the summer, then reblooms in the fall. A repeat bloomer blooms in the spring, rests a bit, and then reblooms again a month or so later.

Since the subject Iris was planted this summer, there really is no way to know for sure if this is a true rebloom, or a *confused* first bloom. See?

Smiling

I usually think of "repeat" bloom as that of the *beardless* iris, SIB's, for example. The bearded iris that bloom "again", several weeks after the first stalks appear, seem to always be the ones that are registered as E-M-L (early, midseason, and late), and are all blooming on increases that started growth the year before. The "reblooming"(Re) bearded ones, make their late summer, or fall, for the most part, bloom on "new" increases, that have started growth in the early spring. That said , there are some bearded iris that are "E-M-L" AND "Re", and can, in the right climate and under the right cultural conditions, be "almost" everblooming. The "confused bloom" can, and does happen, and not only on newly planted rhizomes, though that is usually when you see it. When temperature and moisture conditions are "just right", that rhizome thinks it's spring.....it's had it's dormant period, and if there is a "eye" (not sure of the correct terminology, but the spot on the rhizome that produces the stalk), and if the rhizome has had a long enough period to mature , it blooms.

Thanks Carl, Mary Ann, and Arlyn! Thank You! I never would have guessed those distinctions between repeat and rebloom!!
