I was looking at my Japanese iris yesterday. They have been blooming for two or three weeks. One of the pots of Rainbow Darter still has 10 new bloom stalks coming. I have never had them bloom this much.

Looks like the iris season has ended here for 2016. There are just a few TB's hanging on. Heartbreaker just opened multiple blooms today, but the wind was so breezy it was difficult to take pictures! Sad Even if it had been calm the sun was so scorching hot that everything is way off color! With that said here are my remaining best efforts from today. (All of these are re-plants from 2015.)

Leon, they are all beautiful!!

My first Japanese of the season opened today. Hurray! I am going to try growing some in pots this year to see if they do better. Carl - do you separate them every year?

I have always loved Tanzanian Tangerine. It is a nice cheery orange in my garden, and is a pretty reliable bloomer. More so than other Kasperek's I own.

And here is my artistic shot (actually the sun was the artist - I was just there at the right time!)

I got this one from Greg, and I just had it in my mind that it was going to be this purple iris of some sort. It had it's first bloom this year and I thought I had the wrong iris! Could Claudia really be this crazy plicata? Well, yes, yes she is!

Yes, even in person the lines on the falls look a little out of focus. Big Grin

Last year I ordered a handful of older iris that I had always seen in catalogs but had never ordered. Snowmound last year was a bit of a disappointment so I was going in Crossing Fingers! -ed! This was the first of those to bloom and I love it. The fact that is a Blyth is icing on the cake.

I had hoped this picture would have turned out better. I had Crimson next to Hi There Gorgeous and the color combo was really pretty.

I have been posting a day at a time (even though I am still behind). As a teaser I just want to say that April 30th was a day for some of my favorite new iris!!! Hope you won't be disappointed! Big Grin Big Grin

It is a beauty. I wasn't sure if chimera meant coloration differences or if it also included missing and extra parts, also.

I decided awhile ago to not post as they bloomed. Just too much to do. I also took a lot of pictures at the AIS tour garden I helped at (Glenora). I will most likely post those first as mine are still blooming.

Still have a rot issue, but it is not heavy and not accelerating. I did lose "Mayan Mysteries" to rot though. I did get a picture of it before it went under. I also lost the bloom stalk of "Fine Wine", but there are other rhizomes that are not affected (I think).

All beauties there, Leslie and everyone! If you stare at the one pic of Claudia Barton...the lines look like they start shifting places... or maybe my eyes are oogley today. Blinking Smiling

My Claudia BB bloomed this year but not last year. I was so confused as it has PBF and I thought it was going to be Fiery Temper which is also PBF and planted near. It really has that many lines and is quite pretty!
I should really not plant two PBFs next to one another. Hard to tell which is which.

But it leaves you some mystery! My name tags have taken away the mystery - except for the NoID's sent by vendors! Hilarious! Only had one this year of those that bloomed!
