Iris4U sent some nice rhizomes. I only ordered 2 from the Mixed Berry Tart and Mayan Mysteries. No bonuses, but I only ordered 2.

This is enough of a bonus for me though, 2 for 1's

My Howler was attacked by rot this year. It did have a bloom stalk, but I lost a lot of it. It's still alive, but struggling, guess we'll see if it makes it. It's been so dry here now that maybe that will help. It was a pretty large clump this spring. Now there's just a few left.

I would love to have a dry spell. I think it would do wonders for the iris. Between the heat and wet I have lost a lot of fan leaves. I always feel bad sending them out in this state. I know they bounce back and will have leaves aplenty in the spring, but the receivers probably wonder why they don't look like those big fat fans from California.

I got Howler, a few years ago, along with some other "moderns", and Rita fell in love with the *picture* when we looked it up.....but I think it rotted out after about a month! I remember there were several that didn't make it to the end of the first year Glare .

The heat here caused many of my fans to wilt and turn brown. The rhizomes are not rotted though. It happened to the ones I dug up and moved. I'm hoping they will put out healthy new leaves in the spring like you mentioned but they look so bad now. I'm a little nervous.

Don't worry you two. The newly planted often lose their leaves, and you will see tiny new ones start to grow, or new ones coming up in the center of the fan. Those center leaves are the ones referred to when you see that someone has posted that their iris are giving them the finger, or have fingers. Whistling

Hey Leslie, How about sending some of the rain about 2-1/2 hours west. We have been really dry this summer. North of I-40 has had rain and Cleveland and Gaston counties have had rain but we have been in a serious dry slot. Shrug!
