I think I'm training the next generation of tomato lovers. Hilarious! I was late getting them planted this year, so it's going to be a while yet for me.

And hopefully the next generation of Gardeners Hurray!

I agree Me too. Sugar snap peas and small tomatoes straight from the garden. Heavenly!!

Good ole summer time how it turbo-charges seeds. I planted the Heatwave Tomato plants and National Pickling Cucumber Seeds just before dark June 28th. The Plants are looking great and I already have cumber plants coming up and I planted them deep. I love the summer time growing.... Hurray!

I think I will skip Winter entirely this year Whistling

Hi Rita,

That is only 2 days in the ground and I planted the seeds over 1-inch deep. I made a little "tool" that I use to plant various seeds at different depths. I know the ground is not exactly even but they all were buried not less than an inch deep. Now I hope the plants grow just as fast. I am still harvesting cukes off my Spring plants so this should give me a real good overlap.

That sounds good. I have tried a fall crop of cucumbers but it never works out well as far as anything coming of it. Lousy production and the plants quickly come down with some sort of cucumber diseases.

Meanwhile my spring crops are lasting longer than ever before so really no complaints.

If we have a normal year ( as normal as it ever is ) then my Fall planting will produce good to September. Then from September till the first freeze the plants normally go crazy, putting on more blooms and fruit than you can imagine. The ground is still good and warm but we begin to get the cool nights and plenty of light rains that seems to make the plants happy. Then I can put up a ton of goodies for the Winter Hurray!

That sounds great that you can get in all those "extra" veggies. Not that much that we can do both a spring and fall crop of here.

I had about a quart of red kidney beans in the icebox and last night I mixed them with the 1/2 pint of tomato sauce with jalapeno peppers and made a dip. It was tasty and spicy, great flavor from the fresh tomatoes and just enough heat from the peppers.

Seems like only yesterday you didn't want to start your tomatoes from seed, Rita... Whistling

Well, you were successful with the seed starting of tomatoes. Now I wonder why I didn't start sooner.

However the hot peppers are never gonna happen. I can't stand ones with even a little bit of heat.

Rita, you absolutely cannot make chili without Hot Peppers. Confused

A green salad with just one jalapeno finely diced up in it will sharpen your taste buds and then you will enjoy every single little morsel of individual flavor. nodding nodding
