We had a light frost forecasted for Thursday morning and the forecast for the next 5 days cool daytime highs, so I picked all the tomatoes in the garden wed evening. I have 2 roma's, a slicer and a grape left in the greenhouse with a heater for cold nights. We have been picking tons of tomatoes for the last couple of months, so I was a little surprised at the qty that were on the plants. I put them on my seed starting shelves in our basement for storage. That is a lot of tomatoes to eat Blinking

That's a whole lotta tomatoes! I gathered mine this week and put them on a table, spread out so they don't touch each other. They'll ripen over the next few weeks. we'll use some in salads, have a few to can, and the last ones to ripen don't have much flavor and are watery, but they hide very well in soup! I grew Big Beef, Legend, and a new to me gold when ripe variety called Jubilee. It tastes better than the red ones.

I think I'm going to pull my green ones off tomorrow... I'll have to have another look at the forecast, I may be able to leave them another week. I've actually had 3 ripen this week, and for here, that is great!!

I did some gleaning in my truck farmer neighbor's fields before he plowed them under, and now have a lot more tomatoes ripening in the basement. Also got a box of assorted peppers which have mostly been pickled and canned. I canned all of my tomatoes last week, and when I finished I thought of my neighbor's field, so called him to ask. Now the table is full again and a card table as well. That should give me about a dozen more quarts. These are mostly heirlooms.
