Oh I am so happy that ya'll are sending some to Susan. Dang all that co op work , with no plants to show for it. Been there, done that.

Twit, I posted this somewhere, but I just received my box. Thank you thank you thank you. Hurray! Hurray!

I'll post pics after I get them potted up. Twit, are they used to being in scorching hot sun? I will put them in dappled shade for about a week, but I know they will do best where they are used to growing. These are not like the MC plugs that need so much babying.

When I say scorching hot sun, I mean it. It penetrates your skin thru your shirt. BUT, it only last for about two hours (between 11 am and 1:00 pm., where I am planning on putting them. Will that be ok or not? Or I can add them to the shade spot where I put the MC plugs and keep them there. I spent so much money on semps and stuff last year, and lost them, so I am cataloging every thing I do with these. I will not lose any, if I have to bring them inside, which, in this house is an absolute no no. (Hubby thinks all plants have bugs) Rolling on the floor laughing

Regarding a home for the new arrivals, I always pot them up and put in a semi-shade location until they are seen growing. Also, do not water the first couple of days unless you see shrinkage. Then I use a misting bottle and spray so that the soil surface is visible damp (it changes color) and do that daily for a few days until the first rain.

The plants I sent come from multiple locations. Some get full day sun but many others get semi-shade, morning sun or evening sun. Doesn't seem to make much difference as long as the plants are happy. Full sun does seem to bring out the best colors though. You all will need to experiment with them a bit, but give them a month to adjust or better yet, pamper them the first year.

I'm happy you like them and please remember that what went into each box was random, so some of the packs may have had more than the others. I did try to fill the boxes.

I have all the semps you sent Twitch into a new project area I am calling Noah's arc, due the shape it took on in one of our garden shapes within the back yard. Since I was unsure of the names of some, I just put all the ones from your box into one area of the Arc. Here's the photo of them, we have had misty grey days since I planted them, which was a nice warm all sunny day. So heat is not a problem for them, but too much moisture might get them instead. They are all on the bottom layer. I am trying to keep the top layer to miniatures. Thanks again. Much appreciated plants.

Hurray! dahtzu what a great mix you ordered. Can't wait to see photos.
We have to see where we are on quantity after shipping to the rest on the list. But if we run out this year, we will be running it again next year.

Here is a link that will help you understand what will work for potting mixes. Without knowing where you live (as in weather/growing conditions) it is hard to say what might work best for you.
The thread "Potting Mixes and Difficult Soil" in Sempervivum forum

What nursery did you order your new plants from? As soon as I know I will give you a link to post photos for them. I am so excited for you.

Hi Lynn, lol, went to the first link from you after seeing the beautiful Semps you posted. "Mountain Crest Gardens" Thank you so much for helping me. I have "Hen & Chicks" but never even heard of another name for them. After discovering the Sempervivum and Jovibarba forum, I think I have totally lost all reasoning that would keep me from getting over my head in Semps. I walked over my yard this morning just to see if I had anything like I've seen . Most of mine are planted in broken clay pot pieces.
I live in Henderson, NC and any planting is in raised beds, all soil here is hard red clay. I do appreciate any and all help.
Thank you big bunches
Faye

Here is a link to Mountain Crest Gardens. We like seeing what others got from each nursery and this is an easy way to keep track, by using the nursery threads.
We would all love the see your photos when you have them ready. The thread "Nursery: Mountaincrest Gardens" in Sempervivum forum

dahtzu could you copy and paste your above post to this thread. It is a great question and will help many to find out how to raise semps in heavy clay soil. It will be easy for others to find the answer. Thumbs up The thread "Potting Mixes and Difficult Soil" in Sempervivum forum
I will answer your question over in the Potting Mixes and Difficult Soil Thread. Meet you over there. Hurray!
