Well I am happy to say I finished the harvesting part and I am way behind schedule. I should have everything mailed out by the end of the week.

Susan I got your Tree-mail. And of course I will leave your babies out in the semp beds to grow until you are ready for them.

Lori and Susan I would like to know what a box of rain is worth to you? Big Grin Bad part about it is the mosquitoes, can I send them with the water? By the time I came in this evening I was covered in welts. Glare

Mosquitos? What's that??? It has been so hot and dry here that we haven't been bothered by bugs for quite awhile now.

I would pay A LOT for rain, and would gladly take the bugs that come with it. Rolling on the floor laughing

Lynn, I'm so excited to get my box of semps! The ones you sent me last year with my rocks are all doing well, and I've added a few more here and there.

Outside my patio door in front of the log rack I have a set of garden shelves where I've tried to grow colorful potted geraniums in for the past couple of years. It's been a disaster. They look like crap most of the time because they get hit by the frost in the winter and by the time they come back (assuming I remember to water them all the time because the pots are small) it's time for frost again.

I'm going to replace them all with semps!!!

I'm having a hard time keeping up with the forums because last week I adopted the dog I've been working with at the shelter for 4 months. They got slammed after 4th of July, and unless they were able to move some of the dogs out some of them were going to have to be put down. Although they're not a no-kill shelter, they have the lowest euthanasia rate of any in the state. Since Clover had been there the longest, she ended up on the Top 3 hit list. I had already told them if either she got kennel-stressed or there was risk of her being put down that my cats and my husband would just have to deal with it, because she would be coming home with me. So we rearranged the side yard for a run, and picked her up on Wednesday. Sheesh! It's like having another kid!

Yes, bless you, Janet!
How long do semps live without their feet in soil?? I found some that I put in a paper bag a couple weeks ago, and they're still green!

Wow, Lori and Susan I don't often watch the news, but just saw this morning how awful the weather conditions are for OK and TX. If I could ship rain to you I would do so immediately (without the mosquitoes). Hopefully things will change for the better soon.

Ahhh, Janet how wonderful that you saved Clover. How old is she? Can we see a photo of her? And yes it is like having another child. Rolling on the floor laughing
Petrie was supposed to be euthanized at the dog pound when the Willamette Humane Society heard about him and saved him. They asked me to do physical therapy for him so he could be adopted. He has been with us for 4 years now. Lovey dubby http://cubits.org/Dogs/article...

This is one of the varieties that will be in the boxes I am sending out this week. This one gets quite large if given the room to grow.

We cross posted Renee. They can live for a very long time. Just plant them and watch them take off. Give them some special care until they get their roots going. Light, but not direct sun, just little drinks of water when the soil dries out. I have some that sat in the garage for several months that took off growing once planted. : )
Not that we want to practice doing that to them. Sad

Oh boy, I'm in trouble.
I ripped a bunch of Dolle Dina out of a pot because it was crouding out other semps, and then tossed them on the weed pile.

They're too prolific!

LOL, tabby! Lynn, I like your 'SPCS'!
I once told a Lowe's garden employee I was gonna report them to the SPCP...they thought about it a sec, then cracked up and agreed that the situation was indeed critical. I still like to shop the 'half-dead, half-off' rack...

I too am experiencing some delays in shipping my final boxes for the season. Part of the problem is that I received a large shipment in trade from someone weeks earlier than expected, and in clear conscience decided that I needed to get new arrivals situated before shipping out the oldsters. It has also been a very busy time and my time to work on this is limited. I underestimated how much time it takes (and I should know by now Sad ) and how much time I would have available to do this. I will keep at it, but thanks to all for your patience too.

Twitcher, no worries please!! Take care of what you got so that you don't loose anything and of course work has to come first, so you can purchase more plants right? LOL If they make it this season great, if its the next.....guess what, I'll still be here! Take care of what you need for sure!

Thanks, Kate, I'll be watching the mailbox!

Edit: Didn't have to watch long, my Dad just brought in the package. And the mailman must have just left, as the box doesn't feel hot! I've only unwrapped one so far, and they are in excellent condition. Great job, Kate!

For those of you interested in Clover photos & stories, I started a blog so the other volunteers & shelter staff can keep up with her adventures (and there will be many of them, I can tell already!)
