So beautiful! I think cascade spider form daylily has such a gorgeous poly effect.

I like my photo too, but I don't want to add it to the database because I have no idea that poly blooms are in any way representative of the blooms for this cultivar. It's true my two rebloom scapes have only had poly blooms to this point, but if it's just an anomaly for the plant's behavior then it's information better left out of the database, IMO. If I knew it was common occurrence, I'd have no problem with adding it to the database. That's just my position at this time. It's sure been interesting to watch the rebloom.

I understand what you are thinking Donald and I certainly respect that, but if someone is wanting a plant that shows consistency in the blooms, it would be advantageous to know that Santa's Plants sometimes creates Polys. It is like knowing not all blooms are doubles but sometimes singles do occur, and vice versa. My personal opinion is that it is better to be aware of all the quirks of a plant, that will allow everyone to make their own decisions based on as much info as possible. I don't like it when the news just shows me the good side of a candidate and not the bad, I like to get the info and make my own decisions. Well, that is just my opinion and I find it interesting knowing it polys.

All true, Larry. But for all I know these rebloom scapes are the only time in the history of its existence that it has ever produced a poly bloom. If there were an area in the database where quirky traits could be clearly distinguished from usual behavior, I wouldn't hesitate to post it there. As it is, if I post the photo, it's just another photo of 'Santa's Pants' among all the others and has equal weight with them. I've had it two years now and this is the first rebloom scapes and the first poly blooms. It may never do either again. I could note - and would - that it occurred on rebloom, but I think words often get skipped over when associated with a photo. In other words, I'm skeptical anyone would notice it was a photo of a rebloom.

My suggestion for this situation is to put Santa Pants on the next Daylily of Day list so that everyone who has it can comment and post information and photos (such as poly blooms). Those DoD evaluations are priceless, IMHO. I read all of the evaluation posts whenever I am considering a cultivar that has been featured.

The one bad thing though, is that there are "currently" approximately 80,000 registered daylilies and we only feature 1 a day. So it would take over 219 years to feature every daylily currently in the AHS and NGA Plant Database. Hmmmmm ...... Rolling my eyes.

If I'm looking at getting one, I also read all of the "local reports." That'd be another great place to comment on it, though I don't think photos can go there.

Guess what? I forgot that our Lexington in the south yellow border had a scape and this morning when I walked out with coffee in hand to see what was going on in the garden, there they were, two lovely bright yellow, fragrant blooms. I went back to the house, put the coffee down, grabbed the camera and here they are. I had to take the pictures in bright sun, for these DLS will be in sun until late this afternoon and I don't know what condition they will be in at that time. Also, forgive me for going off message but thought you might like to see what else I look at this time of year when the DLS are mostly done. Our pink muhly grass border makes quite a striking picture in the morning with the heavy dew on them. I call it the "ghostly" effect.
