Thanks, Carol!
I'll be sad when the coleus 'melt' from the cold...I was thinking of taking cuttings or starts in the house. They root so easily. Anyone want a few pieces? I'll stick em in an envelope.

I don't know for sure but I would guess 25 feet or so, Janice. It's a good sized tree.

I think if you measured the spread, it would be close to the hight. They don't tend to be a tall tree, but they do spread,

Is that beauty berry I see? Very nice, Janice.

The purple you see is my purple garden. It's mostly Mexican petunia, lantana and of course the thornless bougainvillea in bloom at this time.

Thank you, Jim and Kathy. Yes, it is Beautyberry.

There are quite a few 'can't live / don't want to live without' plants for me, and that's one.
I found out about that category when I moved and left most every plant behind 6 years ago!

Here's a "funny" (not!) story about "people":

At my house in Massachusetts, I had a neighbor who lived across the street. She loved gardens and would come over a few times a year to see mine. Being me, I would give her divisons of ones she admired, as well as divisions of most every Hosta I had. Those Hostas were like old friends to me. When we moved there from the Boston suburbs, we dug them up and brought them to our new home. They were some of the first plants I got when I started gardening in my 30's.

Well, for some unknown reason when we moved to North Carolina, I did not even take one division.(I still can't believe it myself!I think I was overwhelmed at the time.)

A year after the move, I started to realize how much I missed the Hostas. Alot were older varieties, difficult to find anymore. I scoured the Web, in search of them.

Well, all this time I was still in contact with that neighbor by mail and email and phone. She had even sent me photos of our old house and how the new owners had ruined the landscaping. So I thought to ask my previous neighbor if she would mind giving me small divisions of the Hostas (my Hostas) I had given her way back when and I would pay for the UPS store to pack and ship them to me. Great idea, right?
Well, this woman would not do it for me!
I hate to say that I learned something from this, because I can't imagine WHAT that would be?
Disappointed, hurt and feeling like I had so been taken advantage of.
Needless to say we are no longer in touch.
But, you know, I still give plants away and probably always will.
PS. I did eventually get most all the varieties back and am Hosta-happy again.
I just thought that was an interesting story and when I retell it, I still shake my head and can't believe it.
And that's all folks! Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

Would love to hear what everyones
'Can't live / don't want to live without' plants are and any funny stories, too! Smiling
