Well, that doesn't look too great to me. It looks like a scape that has been cut off, but I'm not seeing much in the way of fan growth. In my part of the world, hot and mostly dry Texas, I'd put it in the sick bay. That usually is a shady spot protected from the sun here. I'd keep it watered - probably would keep it sitting a shallow pan of water which I do for any daylily that gets stressed if I can manage it. It's clearly got life left, but it needs some fan growth. It's possibly in a post bloom, summer dormancy stage and will produce some growth a bit later after resting a bit. That's my take on it, anyway.

Larry, so far we have not had any issues with rust in our area. I know the area where this daylily is and have not seen any major issues in the bed.

I know SGB and you guys need to teach him everything you know, this way he can look at my daylilies and get them going Whistling

SGB, your daylilies are gorgeous! I particularly like the white teeth on the first one, lavender flower with white teeth edge. You have a good eye for choosing beautiful daylilies.

Welcome! @SGB!! So glad plantmania influenced you to join us. We all share in your excitement in starting your adventure into gardening, and especially daylilies! Love the pink/purple dl with the white teeth.

I had one like your "almost" dead one. It was such a tiny thing when I planted it, and all the leaves died, but today I saw new growth, so was very happy! I've learned that sometimes the crown of the dl may be alive even if the plant looks dead so I tend to wait a full year before giving up on one.
May all your weeds be wildflowers. ~Author Unknown
