Elaine, you are right. I have always liked this type of Encyclia! They bloom regularly, the blooms last a long time, they are scented and they are graceful! What's not to like?

It's about time for the nightly thunderstorm and I hear the rumblings getting ever louder. This time it is coming from the south, not from Lindsey's house.

Nice show, Ursula. I especially like the Epiphronitis Veitchii. Isn't it strange how some orchids just take off growing fabulously and then it is if someone pulled the plug.

When my orchids are not blooming, at least a lot of my plumeria are. I do have some orchids in bloom and a half dozen that are in sheath or bud.

I went out to the deck this morning, and was greeted by a wonderfully spicy/sweet aroma. My Rlc. Waianae Leopard's fragrance has arrived. Hurray! Seems that it took a few days before it started... The aroma is lovely.... Lovey dubby

I cannot believe I sold every single one of mine. Why didn't I keep one for myself? I need a good flogging.

I am going out to mount some staghorn ferns. My supply has dwindled. It never ends. Sighing!

Also lovely that the Waianae Leopard is right where you can appreciate the scent.

Gorgeous Tara!
Isn't it stunning how many orchids have fabulous fragrance?
Ursula..can you add an emoticon at the bottom menu of someone getting a good flogging? Whistling

Joke aside, yes Ken, you do need to keep some stuff to enjoy, be a little more selfish?

Thank You! all. I'm so pleased to have the fragrance. Most, if not all of the others I have, have little to none. Sighing!

When Jean, Care, and I went to Apopka, Jean asked if there was anything in particular that I was looking for, and all I could say was something fragrant! Wouldn't you know it, I came home with a couple of pretties...no fragrance. Sad Oh well...

Hmmm, another reason to make a road trip! Hilarious! Back to Apopka!!!! Maybe in the Fall...It's to darn hot right now.... Smiling

trouble is Tara, you can't judge a plant by it's fragrance...so many of them are only fragrant in the morning..or evening...and if you're not in Apopka then..you'll never know! You can always sell a plant on Ebay or there's a page on FB for selling orchids as well...after it's bloomed and you've enjoyed it!
Ken, you might want to check that site out as well... It's called Orchids Trade and Sale it's a closed group so they make sure you are legit before allowing you in the 'club'

Good point, Lindsey!
HaHaHa! Sell them?!? Hilarious! I have so few, that it really doesn't matter to me if they're fragrant, or not. Their beauty knocks me out too. More fragrance is just a plus!

And speaking of fragrance, I knew when I smelled this one, this morning, it seemed familiar to me, and DH just nailed it. If you have ever smelled a dark purple petunia, that's it! The first words out of his mouth when he smelled it was "It smells like those petunias!" D'Oh! That's it! I knew it was familiar!

Tara, if your Publix gets the Hawaiian orchids look for Idcdm Burgundian 'Too Sweet'. It had a spicy sweet fragrance morning, noon and night. My neighbor even asked what I had blooming because she could smell it when the breeze was right. My store seems to get that one with each shipment. I hope I can keep mine alive, it appears to be healthy and has two new leaves. Crossing Fingers!

Thank You! Alice. I've made a note of it...On my wish list...I love spicy aromas.

Think I'll ask the floral dept. next time I go. Thumbs up

To clarify, Alice...Did you mean Odcdm.?

Tara, it is Odontocidium [Odcdm.] Burgundian but they have recently changed it to plain old Oncidum.
