I see what you did there, Kurt! Hurray!

Cardinals are still on cleanup duty under the feeder.

Thumb of 2016-07-01/mellielong/814bc5

Yes, Tufted Titmouse, I can see you. Hilarious!

So the squirrel was on the ground under the feeder which I don't mind. As long as they stay on the ground. And that juvenile Cardinal was sitting in the Parsley Hawthorne.

Thumb of 2016-07-01/mellielong/94b870 Thumb of 2016-07-01/mellielong/47c02c

Then, he just got right down on the ground with the squirrel.

And I saw a White Ibis in the neighbor's yard.

There was some more action on the birdfeeder this afternoon. It was of the squirrel variety, so I had to go intervene. As soon as I chase the squirrels off, it's a free-for-all with the birds.

This Tufted Titmouse makes me laugh.

Thumb of 2016-07-02/mellielong/07ee96

I'm afraid I'm spoiling this juvenile Cardinal.

I had three Cardinals on cleanup duty. I could only get two in the shot at the same time. In the first pic you can see a male and a female. I think the other two are females. They all have the orange beak, not the gray like the juvenile.

I think I have all the Titmice in the neighborhood. I watch them take turns at the feeder. When I walk around, I can hear them twittering up in the trees.

I gotta say, I really like these Carolina Chickadees. They seem pretty friendly.

Wonderful photos! I love the expression on the face of the baby robin in the second photo - looks like he's pouting.

The only photo I took today (leaving out the blurred ones) is of this pied wagtail. They're pretty lively, when they're not wagging they rush about as if late for the last train home.

Quite a few baby birds around - I've seen woodpeckers, jackdaws, robins, blackbirds, nuthatches and wrens. There's a nest of goldfinches in one of our hedges, with three eggs in it.

I was able to get some photos of the Cedar Waxwings yesterday afternoon in the neighbors shrubs! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! The shrubs are very close to the property line so I am standing inside my fence in my yard and with my zoom I can get pretty close photos. I just had to stand very very still and kept the camera up in front of my face the whole time! Hilarious! The 2 middle shots it was right in front of me only maybe 8 feet away from me!

Wow, great photos today! Claudia, that second picture should be in a field guide. Seriously, tuck that in a special folder for the photo contest. And you'll beat us all with it, I'm sure!

It rained here just after I woke up so I didn't take many photos today. Mom and I were going through old photos and I was doing some genealogy work. My grandmother was into genealogy, too and she saved a lot of stuff - including my great-grandfather's schoolwork. And what did I find but two reports he did on a Goldfinch and the Eastern Bluebird! I immediately thought of you guys. These were done between 1915-1920. FYI, I did not inherit any artistic ability.

My husband saw this hawk sitting on his truck. It stayed long enough for me to get a few pictures through the garage window. I think it is a juvenile red-tailed hawk. I was trying to get in a position to see its front when it flew away.

This was the only bright spot on Sunday. It poured down rain all day, but this Red-bellied Woodpecker family came and made my day! There was no point in putting jelly out in the rain so I put out extra oranges for the birds. They seem to really enjoy them! Lovey dubby
