I planted half of my seedlings here, and the other half right outside my big windows. I didn't separate seedlings, just planted the clump.

They seem to be quite happy so far. Smiling

Thank you!

Pretty soon I'm going to need to get out there and pull volunteer melon (probably) seedlings, but all in all it's coming along nicely. Some of the semps are a bit pissy about all of the rain we've been getting, but a few seem much happier. These are the survivors from my indoor containers...finally moved outdoors where they belong.

Wonderful Chelle, I can't wait to see them all grown up. And they do look very happy. What are the two taller plants with red on the leaves?

Hello! Sorry to start the post up again - but I was wondering...where do you keep the open flat when sowing sedum seeds? Outside, inside? Shade?

Thank you!

BlueFox said:Yup - I'm here!
I have grown Sedum from seed, but in your case, just be aware that your seed won't likely come 'true' and you may get some variations. That's how Voodoo came about as a seedling of Dragon's Blood.

It's a bit late in the year to seed them now, so maybe wait until the spring, or if you have a cold frame you can winter sow them. The seedlings are really tiny! And you're right, they are much more trouble than cuttings.

I usually do them in March or April in rows in an open flat, using Sunshine mix or other well draining sterilized potting soil, and I've had good success with sprinkling turkey grit along the row so it maintains the moisture level while still allowing good drainage.

Hi hadley, sorry I didn't find this post sooner. And welcome to ATP, so glad you found your way here. You can restart/post to any thread, not a problem.
Greg thank you for the call out. Smiling

BlueFox rarely checks in, so I will try to answer your questiton.
If it is the hardy type sedum seed you can do as BlueFox said in the above post, and set the flat outdoors depending on your growing zone. What is your growing zone? What kind of sedum seed will you be planting?
Here is another method that I have used. http://garden.org/ideas/view/v...
The nice part about using this method is that they have some protection and will go from winter into spring with no damping off.
