Your 'Carmen' is beautiful! Please do keep us updated. I'm a newbie, so I have no idea how it offsets.

Thanks Karen . I'm new to semps, too! 'Carmen' is one of three semps that Plant Delights Nursery says does well in my hot humid summers. The other two are 'El Toro' and 'Oh My'

Judy welcome to the forum. Your Carmen just got transplanted so it may be settling in, but this would be a good time for it to do so, I don't have a Carmen either but a lot of my semps have put out offsets. Hopefully it won't send out a bloom before it offsets.

Welcome to the Sempervivum Forum Judy.
Some varieties are late to offsetting. 'Carmen' may be one of those. Given enough sunlight it should produce this year.
Great information about 'El Toro' and 'Oh My' doing well in hot humid summers.
What are the light conditions you grow your in?

Thanks for the welcome Lynn. Most of my yard is shady dappled sun or morning sun.
Most sedums do fine for me. Will put them in most sun I have. Most will be in pots or long window box containers so I can shift them around as the sun light shifts. I've gotten a number of sun loving flowers to do ok for me so I thought I'd try these cuties that keep calling my name! At least they won't fry.

Beautiful photo Judy. They all look so healthy. I love that you are able to move them around according to your sun conditions. Sometimes your summer sun and humidity can be harsh, so that is a great way to be able to control it. Thumbs up

My big NOID now exceeded 10" diameter while producing 13 offsets and gaining some colour. I might see it at 12" next year when it's going to flower.
It even dwarfs 'Feldmeier' my second biggest semp at about 7", although 'Feldmeier' is higher (it looked like it was going to flower, but it just grew significantly).

Wow that is impressive. Is it a mood because the name was lost or is it a seedling that never got a name?

Micharl, thanks for showing the 10 incher. You must be so proud. Are you feeding it anything?

I Mixed in a handful of horn chips when planting it last year in may. That should be a slow release N-source.

Looks like that slow release fertilizer is doing a good job, Michael. I can't believe the number of offsets on those two! Fertilizer related or just happens with that cultivar of plants, I wonder...

Last year the big NOID only had 4 offspring. ' Feldmeier' was more prolific and I detached all of them and planted them around the hen. This year they're having offspring on their own.

You must have a good climate for semps, Michael. I had to look up your location. It is fairly close to where we used to visit. Our son in law was in the army stationed in Schweinfurt, and they lived in a lovely little place called Ebenhausen. We loved it there. I really enjoyed seeing the gardens most homeowners seemed to have.

Everything in Germany is fairly close considering the distances you're dealing with in the US... Our winters are a bit too mild for semps, but until now I only lost a few types...

I do love how close everything is in Germany and nearby. We got to visit several other countries while we were there. The train service was wonderful! We don't have much in the way of good public transportation.
