I'm so proud of you and I know you will have good notes kept on how they do during the winter.

Oh, you mean like the way I do for the semps? We seldom get snow here so I get to see them pretty much all winter. Lovey dubby

Well, like with my semps. I have found there are a few of them that absolutely hate humidity and no matter what I did, they kicked it. So next year I'll get the ones I know work well for the south. Also, all of them only want our morning sun and never never let it rain on them for more than 30 minutes before putting up their umbrella. They are spoiled little plants. I've lost a few of my soft succulents for the same humidity reason and I absolutely am loving my sedums you sent to me, cause they like anything. Oh, and Echeverias hate the heat here. I guess I need to start a blog for my southern grown semps, sedums, and soft succulent notes.

Anyway, that's what I meant by notes about how the wreath grows and what pitfalls not to fall into.

Hurray! Hurray! My wreath made it through the wet winter. Hurray!
Some of the tender type plants didn't make it, but it still has a lot of plants growing. I have some new sedum I will add to it. Time to do some nipping and tucking. Thumbs up

I wish it was over, but probably not. I think it is just trying to trick us into thinking spring is here.

I hope to add new plants to the wreath tomorrow. I'll take another photo when I get done.
How is yours doing?

I love all your wreaths and box . Wondering how many succulents I would need for a 19" wreath. Is there a guide to follow as to space or do you pack them in? This would be perfect to make for an older neighbor who is no longer able to garden.

Hi dormantsrule.
The fun part of planting a wreath is that you can do it any way that pleases you.

I like to stuff as many plants in as I have available. I also love to mix the plants, some hardy succulents and some tender succulents. That said, a person can even plant annuals or miniature type perennials in the wreath.

What type of plants do you have in mind?

Hi Lynn - I am in zone 7 and want to plant hardy succulents and will email gosucculent.com to find out what there cuttings are. I didn't know if the cuttings need room for growth. Since I want to give it as a gift and don't want them to have to worry about replacing plants.
Which minature perennials would you use?

Let me check on some other plant types that might do well in your zone.
Meanwhile plant on stuffing it full of plants. The hardy succulents will do well crowded together and are easy to trim our remove the extras as they grow. : )

Meanwhile, anyone else that has suggestions for dormantsrule's wreath, chime right in. Thumbs up

I haven't tried it yet in my wreath, but what about some of the delosperma? There are some real beauties out there. That would sure be pretty with the small type semps and sedum.

Here are a couple of sources of nice plants to use in a wreath:
