I agree too!

With Tom that is, but I do fuss with my iris too all year round.

I'm with you Pam! It may have dropped 10 degrees but the humidity went up 10. It's gross!

When I come in from working out in the high humidity, my eyes burn from all the perspiration running into them, even with a sweat band.

No, when it's 10 below or more, I look out the window at the iris bed and see the tips of the leaves sticking out of the snow. I don't go out and talk to them, I sip my wine by the fire and go onto this web site and dream with my cyber family about all the blooms that are in the making and will show their face some time in the future. I wait for the dealers to show their wares and I count my money and see how many can I afford to buy this year. I enjoy us all showing our favorite blues, reds, yellows, oranges and others once again, viewing the pictures that came so fast during the bloom season, and now we have time to share them again and enjoy them once more. I roar with laughter at the funny stuff we come up with to keep us from going starkers like Amazing Don Private Eye. Then about January the new seedlings start showing their tiny selves and that brings hope and joy that a new season will soon be coming around the bend. Any of you who just joined our forum here recently will see what I mean come winter. You will love the fun.

John - today we were 96 with a heat index of 108. They think we may be down to lower temps with maybe lower humidity by next week. Crossing Fingers!

I keep people on my garden paths by telling them the truth about the rattlesnakes around here. "I kill about 4 a year (5 so far this year)". That's usually met with a deer in head lights look in their face. "Rattlesnakes!?!?" Blinking Blinking

About placing extras in the box, I'm guilty of trying to stuff the box before I send it off. I don't like mailing a half empty box. Sticking tongue out

As for the heat, I'm sick of it. I took two trips to the coast this week and I loved the 40 degree difference.

Jealous! The coast here has the same temps, and have actually been hotter several times this summer. Thumbs down

Spent the weekend on the Chesapeake sailing with friends. It was even hotter and more humid on the Bay than at home.

We are experiencing something rare here in KC, really pleasant weather. The heat wave broke last Saturday and we are having highs in the upper 70's to low 80's. And it looks like that for the next 10 days or so. As I said, really rare for this time of year. Wish I could send some of it your way.

Blessings

Same here John -- but rain, rain and more rain. I find rotted Irises every single day. Sad

The western and eastern parts of KY have gotten tons more rain than we have even though it is forecast every day. We may get sprinkles here in the heart of the Bluegrass. Not that I am complaining as it keeps the rot at bay which is a good thing!!! The heat wave is over for a few days....

Just had a good Rolling on the floor laughing I googled garden etiquette sign and saw this ....

'Dear plant thief
If I catch you stealing my plants, I will boil you alive in a cauldron filled with poison ivy and stinging nettles until your flesh falls off your bones!'

Not an isolated case!

Just amazing what people will stoop to! I for one would be happy to share my plants - all you have to do is ask!

If I could ever tear myself away from my own blooms in the spring I would love to tour the NGA iris gardens. And throw in a few vendor gardens too. Think I would start in Grand Prairie, Texas ...... Whistling

Yes, we need to take the group tour, starting in the South and working our way west then North, of course by the time we got to my area everything would have been overgrown with weeds as I wouldn't be here to weed them all spring. Guess that's not a good idea. Well for a second try, we could all gather at the National Convention for a "Get to Know You" meeting, and then tour Brad's garden next spring. Smiling
