Zuzu, I read your description of PA, heavy nodding clusters, but how do you like the color? I don't like peachy or salmon colored roses. I do like a hint of orange. The pictures seem to show all three.

Yes, it can have peachy or salmon tones. In fact, I can't think of a yellow Austin rose with hints of orange and no peachy or salmon tones. His yellow roses seem to be either all yellow or yellow verging on apricot blend.

There's the Pilgrim, with its egg yolk colored bloom (white on the outside yellow inside). I've had it for a long time and probably have a picture somewhere. Although none are my Austins are particularly cheerful right now. They all are white blobs.

Yup, snowy white blobs. The snow protects them somewhat. It got down to 15 F last night.

Actually, it is kinda cheerful in a Christmas sort of way. I should take a picture of my center rose garden with all it's white blobs. But the sun has come out and the snow sublimates quickly here so I might have to act fast.

Act fast. I think snow covered roses would be an awesome sight!

Sharon - Actually it's depressing. All those beautiful blooms.. gone. If I have any snow on my blooms when I get home, I'll snap ya some pix. In my mini bed there should still be snow on some of the blooms.

Sad, isn't it? Last year my rhododendron lost its mind and bloomed during some really warm weather in November. It was still blooming on Christmas Eve when we had a heavy snowfall. I thought I had a picture but it seems to be hiding somewhere around here. It looked much like purple ornaments on a snow laden shrub.

There are some nice yellow ones, Sharon. The Pilgrim is a good one, as Tabby said, and I also like Molineux, Charlotte, and Yellow Charles Austin (and probably some others I'm forgetting), but they don't have the "hint of orange" you want.

Thanks, Zuzu, I'll check them all out.

And it's only going to get better all the time, Sharon. Soon you'll be able to search for all of the yellow roses hybridized by David Austin. It'll be great!

I really wish I could devote more time to it, but my contract is running out in December and I want to spend every penny of it, so my time is taken up with my "real" job. My New Year's resolutions will include more work on the database (not to mention speedier deadheading and weed-pulling).

Well, I hope not. I'm hoping the contract gets renewed so I can continue spending money foolishly. Smiling It's just that I'll have more free time at the start of a new contract. The weather this year was so good that I didn't keep up with the contract on a monthly basis and now I have to hustle.

Retirement? I think I've vaguely heard of that word. Like I'll ever see that.. but that's years & years & years ahead of me to get even more broke before I can even think of retiring. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

Hey, Toni, just heard about all the snow that the Denver area got. Looks like it's coming in early (?) for you. Weatherman's predicting a milder winter for us, but I have my doubts.

Shar and Zu, my Molineux is still blooming its gorgeous head off. I'll try to get some photos tomorrow or Sat. Love, love, love that rose!

Hiya, Angie. Molineux does have a very faint touch of orange, doesn't it?

Did you see the pictures of Jasper I posted for you recently?

Jasper is a very cool cat.

I like Molineux, Zu, that touch of orange that shows in some of the images in the database would be just what I'd like. I need to take a closer look at it.

Hi again, Angie!
