Got the peonies from JS but not home to look at them. I won't be there until next Wednesday. DH put them in cool garage and left box closed. Is this OK? Can't see if they sent the right ones until I get home to check.

Liz, I'll have think about which yellow herbaceous peonies I may have. We're traveling to NC now to see our DS in college, and I've left my list of plants at home.

Ginny, sounds like the best solution to me. I've left unopened boxes of peonies in the garage for that long before with no negative impact. As long as they're not exposed to heat or extreme cold they should be fine.

Thanks Liz! We'll be back home on Sunday, and I'm off next week, so I'll have plenty of time to play in the dirt.
I've got to start thinking about where I want to plant the new peonies.

I have 3 of the 4 new beds filled now, or will when I get the Peony Shop order in the ground, and they weren't really ready. I've scoped out where I'll have new beds again next spring. I plan to NOT ORDER any peonies next year! I need to get older beds reorganized and more planter's mix put out to make them higher--that'll be the focus for my gardening efforts, and I need a spot to move stuff from those beds for a few years so I'm not harming them so much in transition. Hopefully I can keep that resolution....There's a few out there that I'd break it in a minute if they became available so I'm not sure how strong I'll be....

I would probably cannot wait for next spring to come soon enough. I am so excited for you and hope all work out as you plan or better than your expectations. Thumbs up Thumbs up Thumbs up

Received replacements from Adelman's for two roots that failed this spring. And a refund check for two others that they couldn't replace. They are absolutely the best to deal with. I am really impressed. When they said they didn't have one of them when I reported the loss, I just figured 'oh well.' Can't replace what they don't have. Never expected a refund check. Pretty nice. Thank You! Hurray!

That is awesome, Mary! That is why it is best to buy from peony vendors like Adelman. I am happy with all of the plants that they sent me. Solaris Farms is also like that too. They will go out of their ways to make you a happy customer.

Thanks, Karen, I hope they do well, will post pics in the spring. I know I lost a few this year, discouraging, but hoping the number is minimal.

Mary, that is impressive. They all advertise that they don't replace anything except stuff damaged in shipping and reported immediately so that's a happy surprise!

Just got notification that my Pure Peonies box is on the way, hoping that they look good. Got bit by the last minute sale from Hidden Springs and ordered 3 more, don't know what I was thinking (actually I do--pretty, pretty, PRETTY!) and have 2 from the APS online auction, then I'm done for the year. Also picked up some Martagon lilies from HS, don't know where I'll plant them so they're not impacted by the pines....maybe my living room???!!!

First pic is of my former FL bed after removing the blocks, tilling, raking, and planting grass. Second pic is of my latest addition to the herbaceous bed holding 'Judith Eileen', 'Lavon', and 'Chestine Gowdy' after they were moved to this new location. The cover is a type of landscaping cloth used for underlayment for mulch. Made of some kind of durable material formed into strands and pressed together to make a type of thin screen. Water passes through but grass or weeds normally cannot. Lightweight and and comes in a 4 ft wide roll. The local squirrels were going nuts digging and hiding acorns in the new fluffy soil. Thin enough to see the plant label under it.

I had a fun day yesterday. I drove out to Iris City Gardens and bought three Itoh peonies: 'Norwegian Blush', 'Royal Blush' and 'Kopper Kettle'. I also got a herbaceous 'Ray Paxton'.
If anyone wants info for a mail order purchase from them, let me know. They don't list their peonies on their website, but Macy, the owner, said she does do mail order.
I also got to see my favorite barn out there.

That is a very unique barn, can see whit it's your favorite. Looks like it's enormously tall if that door is a standard sized barn door--is it big enough to drive a farm tractor through?

And I don't think you seriously thought that we WOULDN'T want the information about a new peony source! Yes, pretty please, share the mail order info! Thanks, LG!

Here is the info. I have bought from them for years. They grow everything on their property.

Liz, the barn is on the road to Iris City. It is a full sized door. The rise in the road obscures it. I don't know who owns it, but they take good care of it.

I got my order from Swenson's yesterday. I am in the process of planting them.
I was really pleased with the divisions they sent.
