How different they look from ones I receive from Adelmans or Hidden Springs. Course yours look like entire clumps not just a divided root.

Mary Stella, She told me she grows them in pots to sell to her on site customers. That's why the roots curl. She rinses off the dirt and ships them to her online customers. I also think that is why the tops are so black. Probably a little dried out. I soaked them before planting. And they really looked great. All are in the ground.

Liz, I saw on another post somewhere that you bought from Birchwood. How did your plants do?

That first pic looked a little strange. The pot explains that. I would cut away all the reversing roots, leaving just the straight ones. The plant will do better that way.

I never purchased from them, LG. I did have several that I liked from their site several years ago but ended up ordering from another place instead that had the same plus a few others that I wanted, might have been Brooks or Swensons. You'll have to report how well yours do this spring!

Thanks Jerry ! Good idea.

Thanks for the info, Liz. And I will certainly post photos because I love to see everyone else's photos.

Now if I could just get the rest of my roots in the ground. Sighing!

Looking forward to Hidden Springs site to open any time now for 2017 shipments. nodding
Just bought Takara Itoh on eBay, couldn't refuse and just can't let the planting season end. The weather has been very mild Smiling

With our mild weather the last week or so I wouldn't be surprised if I couldn't plant one now even here.

Sorry Craig, I just saw your post.
I'm glad Liz stepped in.

Mary Stella, I follow the Swedish Peony Society on Facebook ( highly recommend) and they are posting photos of planting peonies in the snow!

Glad you are having a thaw. We had our first bad frost this week.
Thumbs down

Mary Stella, they are a very social group. I only wish the American Peony Society would have a lot of posts like they do. They also have some wonderful photographers, and varieties that aren't available here in the States.
Another group that I enjoy is Planet Peony. It is also very lively with great photos from everywhere.

Warning... you will be adding peonies to your wish list from seeing the photos.

Hilarious!

Mieko, you are indeed an enabler but I will go look. Do you have a url. I tried looking for The Swedish Peony Society but didn't get any good url's. Thanks for an assist.
