Rollercoaster that is Change

I buy the ticket
I strap this old body into the seat
I pray that the mechanics checked out the moving parts and wheels and sprockets-- and that they were sober when doing it
I am scared
I am excited
I am cautiously ready and optimistic that I won't throw up

And then the START button is engaged and there is no going back
The climb begins

After a bit of a wild ride
Some screaming
Lots of laughing and a
shaky sigh of relief........

It is over
I made it!
I have no regrets!
now, I have no desire to repeat it.....

But, if there is a newer, better, ride to take
I probably will buy that ticket and reach for the safety belt

I think newbies will be pleasantly surprised because the changes will not be like a roller coaster ride.

Weedwhacker said:LOL, RpR -- withhold your judgment until you see what is in store... Dave does not (or at least has not in the past many years) make changes that are bad for the site members!

If I do not like it truly, I am not forced to remain so my option is as it has been in the past: if I like the content of the site, deal with the changes or do something else.

As far as life goes the internet really has the importanceof a zit on a gnats buttocks but it is also a good place to cleanse one's soul without hurting anyone.
Better than walking up to a stranger on the street, grabbing him by the arm and saying life sucks.

I had Chrome for some time and got rid of it as it was like a Horse Fly trapped under one's underware.
I now have a nice HP Probook instead of a Toshiba used roll of toilet paper so life goes on.
This site is alive so I am sure I will survive. I tip my hat to you.

Oh yes the Twins actually came back to win last night rather than getting blown out when relief pitching came and I am about to make myself some Malt O'Meal from an open box whose expiration date is May 2014 so life is good.

No matter how old I get this site keeps me young. Thanks Dave, Trish, Jon and the rest of the crew. Thumbs up

I am really going to miss the Site Banners. Sighing!

Okay with everything else though.

Change is good! People are always resistant at first but I'm confident that the changes will be an improvement.

If I am reading correctly the Site Banners will remain but will no longer be on the home page; we will find them later on one of the community pages.

I understand the concerns of members who haven't been around very long (probably most of all anyone who came over from "Dave's Old Garden" to escape the "changes" there...); when I was still working, every time the software was "upgraded" it made our jobs harder to do -- really not good for someone working on a production basis. But as Lin said very well: "I think newbies will be pleasantly surprised because the changes will not be like a roller coaster ride."

But I don't go to the community pages very often. I usually go directly to the iris forum as that is how I have things bookmarked. On a PC the banner shows up at the top of any page you go to, so I could always see it.

All of the forums will actually live on the community pages when we are finished with the redesign, so you will see the banners all of the time.
