Way to go Paul. I think as we get older change becomes a little more difficult.
But I have found all of the changes made over time here at ATP/NGA have been for the good, and I love this site.

Way to go Dave and Trish. Thank you for all you do. Hurray!

I agree The older we get, the harder to change, but I have total faith in Dave, Trish, and Jon. Us old timers will muddle through. Smiling

I agree
I'm getting pretty good at muddling through things. And then there are always all the helpful people here to set me on the right track. Big Grin

I identify strongly with most of the posts above: at first glance, I resist and fear almost all change, even improvements, since I've become an Old Guy.

Thumb of 2016-09-09/RickCorey/147316

>> As uncomfortable as I am with change, this is ONE change that I'm looking forward to seeing, just because it IS Dave & Trish making the change

>> I am resistant to change in my life.

>> The older we get, the harder to change,

BUT everything I've seen Dave and Trish do, (now Dave, Trish and Jon), have been better than what went before, and broke new ground by being better than ANY gardening site I had seen before.

So I also agree 100% with these:

>> I sincerely believe that whatever changes they have in mind will be well thought out and will be positive. I think a lot of the concern I read is simply because human nature makes us a bit uncomfortable with change.

>> "New and improved" actually is true around here.

>> I've been around about as long as Dave and Trish have given us new garden sites and I've never looked back nor have I ever been disappointed.

>> Way to go Dave and Trish. Thank you for all you do.

It often takes me weeks (or months, or years) to admit that some change in my life WAS for the better. I'm going to try to curtail my grumping and grumbling until that light dawns on me, after seeing the fruits of all the work they've done.

A total re-write! Changing platforms! Major, dude! Thank you for all the work!

(And I guess appealing to mobile devices is a total necessity in the modern world. The dashboard idea sounds wonderful to me, and will probably allow people who use desktops to customize things back in the direction of keyboards-and-monitors.)

@gingin I had the same hateful choice here, and after dealing with satellite for a couple of years, a friend suggested getting a Verizon mobile hot spot. Only drawback is that you are limited to the data allowance on the plan you choose, but it has been worth it! (One other slight drawback with mine is that the battery needs to be replaced about every year, but now I just make sure to keep a spare on hand. And those batteries are MUCH cheaper on Amazon!) Might be worth looking into. Smiling

@gingin, the only thing we keep our AT&T landline for is ADT. We are about to cut the cord. I spend most of the time (that I answer the LL) blocking the ROBO calls. You can do just about anything with your cell phone that you would do with the LL.

I can also understand the apprehension. But sometimes change is necessary because other things have changed. Shrug!

Every day I am amazed at how great this site is. Almost too good to be true. I can see why so many members have confidence that changes will be good. I tip my hat to you.

I am very thankful to the creators. In a world where many things remain very sad and disappointing, you have enriched the lives of many of us. First time I've tried using gifs. Thank You!

Is there going to be an announcement or something on the front page? I just saw this thread in the newsletter and I feel like I need to forewarn my forum. I would hate to log on one day and have everything look completely different and not know it was coming. A lot of people don't really check the "Site Talk" forum regularly.

I was wondering the same thing -- I did post on a couple of forums that I visit regularly with a link to this thread, because I'd say the vast majority of members don't check "site talk" on any regular basis. @Trish , I'd definitely like to second the idea of having an announcement on the front page (although not everyone will see that, either... ). (But, I suspect that's already part of the plan -- much as the change to NGA from ATP was announced and explained Smiling )
